On the morning of December 31, 2024, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang held the Inauguration Ceremony of the projects: Inauguration Ceremony of the Projects: Space, Student Pathway, and Parking Area, marking an important milestone on the occasion of the 5th establishment anniversary of VKU (January 3^rd, 2020 – January 3^rd, 2025): a 22-year journey of history and development.

Attending the event were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of the University, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector, representatives of the contractor company’s leadership, as well as leaders of departments, faculties, centers, and affiliated units of the University.

In his speech at the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of the University, expressed his joy and pride in the completion of these significant projects, which hold not only material value but also immense spiritual importance. He highlighted that the projects were designed to connect various spaces within the campus, including the dormitory area, student sports facilities, the creative research space (eSTI), lecture halls, and self-study areas. Together, they form an interconnected, expansive, green, clean, and aesthetically pleasing environment. The planning and design aim to create a space that inspires and energizes students and faculty in their studies, activities, and work, while also serving as a parking area for vehicles. With this vision, the Space, Student Pathway, and Parking Area include various features such as a student park (in front of the dormitory), a pedestrian and recreational pathway equipped with seating, and diverse, vibrant plantings of trees like Royal Poinciana (flame trees), purple Lagerstroemia, golden Shower (Cassia Fistula), Queen’s Crape Myrtle, and other flowers and grass. This setting promises to be an ideal “check-in” spot for students. Along the pathway are decorative lamp posts featuring VKU’s brand colors: red, yellow, and blue. The large space is multifunctional: during the day, it serves as a parking area for cars; in the evening and on weekends, it becomes a venue for the Youth Union and various clubs, such as music, martial arts, and sports, to host major programs and events. Additionally, small landscapes with greenery, flowers, and grass patches provide a relaxing and conducive environment for students to relax or study.

Improving the Green – Clean – Beautiful Landscape

Furthermore, the space includes plans for a sports complex featuring football fields, volleyball courts, basketball courts, pickleball courts, and a swimming pool, which will be developed in the near future. These facilities will be located next to the dormitory area, forming an ecosystem designed to holistically nurture students’ intellect, physical well-being, and spirit. This aligns with VKU’s educational philosophy of “Humanity – Service – Liberation”

The Space and Student Pathway hold a profound meaning of connection, continuity, and unification—bridging historical and traditional values with current strengths and potential from within and outside the university. This vision aims to build a united and enduring VKU. This significance is symbolized by a row of five beautiful flowering trees located in the central space. Each tree is dedicated to one of the five former rectors of the predecessor institutions that merged to form VKU. These trees stand as a tribute to the invaluable contributions of generations of leaders, staff, and students who have shaped VKU into what it is today.

Over the past five years, VKU has continuously enhanced its landscape and created a green, clean, and beautiful environment. This journey is marked by notable projects such as the Administrative Courtyard Space, the Research and Innovation Space, the Traditional Student Exhibition Area, the Digital Science and Technology Institute, the Semiconductor and Smart Technology Hub (SSTH), Fintech Hub, the Smart and IoT Laboratory, as well as various dining services and sports facilities. These efforts vividly demonstrate VKU’s unwavering commitment to building a “happy university,” fostering a comprehensive development environment for its staff and students in alignment with the educational philosophy of Humanity – Service – Liberation. These projects have also left a remarkable imprint on the University’s journey toward sustainable development.
