VKU Promotes International Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence, Research, and Technology Transfer

On the morning of May 15, 2026, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), The University of Danang, held a meeting and working session with a delegation of international enterprises to discuss, orient, and promote cooperation opportunities in digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), scientific research, and high-quality human resource development in the context of the rapid global growth of digital transformation and AI.

Attending the meeting on behalf of VKU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU; Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector; together with representatives of faculties, departments, and related units. Representing the international enterprises were Mr. Bao Nguyen – CEO of BiT-Madison; Dr. Sang Wook Jo – CEO of AI Healthcare; Dr. Catherine Cho – Co-Founder of Behavioral Health & AI Strategy; Dr. Rich Nguyen – Principal Scientist of Resonary AI; and Mr. Joonas Karvonen – Chairman of KHH-Enterprise.

In his remarks, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Huynh Cong Phap expressed his pleasure in welcoming the international enterprises to visit and discuss cooperation with VKU. He shared that VKU is a public member university of The University of Danang, established in 2020 through the merger of prestigious IT training units, with the strategic orientation of becoming an advanced digital university that provides high-quality human resources in key fields such as Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Semiconductor Integrated Circuit Design, Financial Technology, and others.

Currently, VKU has nearly 8,000 students with a modern learning environment, advanced training programs, and bilingual programs in English–Vietnamese, Japanese–Vietnamese, and Korean–Vietnamese. The university places special emphasis on enhancing students’ international integration competencies and has established cooperative relationships with nearly 200 domestic and international partners, including many universities and major enterprises from South Korea, Japan, the United States, and Europe.

During the working session, the parties focused on discussing several key areas of cooperation to build a sustainable and long-term development roadmap. One of the highlighted topics was the orientation toward jointly establishing an AI Development Center in Da Nang based on VKU’s strengths in ICT and AI education, as well as its high-quality human resources.

In addition, the parties discussed the possibility of implementing collaborative projects between the university and enterprises in AI and technology transfer, while also creating opportunities for VKU students to participate in internships, training programs, and recruitment within international technology environments. Cooperation in research and the establishment of joint laboratories with partners from South Korea, the United States, and Europe was also highly emphasized, particularly in the fields of AI, Data Science, Intelligent Systems, and Cybersecurity.

Furthermore, the parties agreed to promote academic exchange programs for scholars, postdoctoral researchers, and students; expand the international academic network through connections with research institutes in South Korea, the United States, Finland, and Europe; and move toward signing Memorandums of Understanding and Agreements (MoU/MoA) in the near future. At the same time, both sides outlined short-term and long-term cooperation plans through online working sessions and future exchange visits.

The meeting took place in an open, positive, and cooperative atmosphere, contributing to strengthening the relationship between VKU and international enterprises and organizations. It also opened up new opportunities in education, scientific research, innovation, and high-quality technology human resource development to meet the demands of international integration and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
