On the morning of November 22, 2025, in a formal and enthusiastic atmosphere, the Trade Union of Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang, solemnly held the 2nd Trade Union Congress for the 2025–2030 term. The Congress marks a new milestone for the Trade Union in the context of the university accelerating digital transformation, improving training quality, expanding international cooperation, and steadily establishing its position in Viet Nam’s higher education system.

Overview of the 2nd Trade Union Congress of Viet Nam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology for the 2025–2030 Term

The Congress was honored to welcome Mr. Phan Kim Tuan – Vice Chairman of the Danang University Trade Union; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council; leaders of units, representatives of the Youth Union, and 150 official delegates representing more than 220 union members across the university.

Mr. Tran Dinh Son – Chairman of the VKU Trade Union, delivering the opening remarks at the Congress

In his opening remarks, Mr. Tran Dinh Son, Chairman of the VKU Trade Union, emphasized the significance of the Congress in the context of the education sector implementing major national policies under Resolutions 57-NQ/TW and 71-NQ/TW. This Congress not only assesses the results of implementing the Resolution of the 1st Trade Union Congress (2022–2025) but also sets key objectives, tasks, and solutions to build a stronger Trade Union that accompanies the university in its new phase of development.

During the 2022–2025 term, the VKU Trade Union achieved many positive results. The Trade Union effectively supported members’ welfare and protected their legal rights. The average monthly income of staff increased steadily, from VND 12.4 million/person/month in 2022 to VND 21.7 million by October 2025. Additional income sources, such as teaching-hour payments, increased salary, and management fees, were also adjusted upwards, contributing to a significant boost in the actual income for the entire staff. Welfare activities were regularly implemented through programs for supporting union members facing difficulties, caring for staff’s children, and organizing high-quality cultural-sports exchange and teambuilding events, creating spiritual motivation and strong cohesion.

In professional activities, the Trade Union focused on improving member competency, encouraging scientific research, innovation, and the application of technology in teaching and management. Many emulation movements were launched, especially sports activities such as football, volleyball, badminton, and pickleball, attracting widespread participation. Trade Union finances were managed transparently and in accordance with regulations, with trade union fees and funds increasing steadily and being prioritized for member welfare activities.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Phan Kim Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Danang University Trade Union, acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of the VKU Trade Union during the past term. He also encouraged the Trade Union to continue promoting stronger innovation and making active contributions to the comprehensive development of the University in the context of rapid changes in higher education.

At the Congress, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council, on behalf of the Party Committee, praised the Trade Union’s contributions to building a positive working environment, supporting professional activities, and promoting VKU’s culture of solidarity, creativity, and development. He affirmed that the Party Committee will continue to accompany and support the Trade Union in fulfilling its core role in caring for members and fostering university-wide emulation movements.

The Executive Committee of the VKU Trade Union for the 2025-2030 Term, consisting of 9 members, was presented to the Congress

With a democratic, transparent, and responsible spirit, the Congress elected the Second Executive Committee of 9 competent and reputable members who represent the will and aspirations of all union members. It also elected 13 official delegates to attend the 7th Congress of the Danang University Trade Union. This team will continue leading VKU’s Trade Union movement in a promising yet demanding new phase that requires strong effort, creativity, and unity.

Entering the 2025–2030 term, the Trade Union adopts the action motto “Solidarity – Democracy – Discipline – Innovation – Development.” It will continue to innovate its activities, promote digital transformation, strengthen the welfare and quality of life of its members, and work closely with the University’s specialized units to implement strategic goals, contributing to VKU’s vision of becoming a reputable training and research center in the region and the country. The Second Congress was a great success, marking the beginning of a new development stage for the VKU Trade Union and reaffirms the unity, responsibility, and aspiration for progress of all VKU staff and employees.
