VKU Works with AUG Vietnam, Promoting TNE Programs with Malaysian University Partners

Within the framework of accelerating its internationalization strategy and expanding educational cooperation, the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), The University of Danang, held a working session with AUG Vietnam. The meeting aimed to discuss the implementation of Transnational Education (TNE) programs with high-ranking university partners in Malaysia, contributing to the enhancement of training quality and the strengthening of international integration for VKU students.

Overview of the working session

Attending the meeting, on behalf of AUG Vietnam, was Mr. Kevin Vo – Executive Director. Representing VKU was Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector of the University, along with representatives from the leadership of relevant functional departments and offices of both units.

Speaking at the session, Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector of the University, expressed his pleasure in welcoming the AUG delegation to visit and discuss cooperative efforts. He introduced VKU as a member public university of The University of Danang, established in 2020 through the merger of prestigious IT training units, with a development orientation toward becoming an advanced digital university. The university focuses on training high-quality human resources in spearhead fields such as Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Semiconductor IC Design, and Financial Technology. Currently, VKU has a scale of nearly 8.000 students with a modern learning environment and advanced curricula, implementing bilingual programs in English-Vietnamese, Japanese-Vietnamese, and Korean-Vietnamese, while placing special emphasis on enhancing the international integration capacity of learners.

Furthermore, VKU has established a cooperation network with nearly 200 domestic and international partners, including many major universities and enterprises from South Korea, Japan, the United States, and Europe. The university is also a pioneer in the Central and Central Highlands regions in implementing semiconductor IC design engineer training and developing research and innovation centers such as the VKU Fintech Hub and VKU-SSTH. Dr. Tran The Son emphasized that internationalization is one of VKU’s key strategic pillars; therefore, the partnership with AUG will contribute to expanding international learning opportunities, improving training quality, and approaching advanced global educational standards. The university is committed to coordinating closely to effectively implement cooperation programs, bringing practical and sustainable benefits to learners.

Representing AUG, Mr. Kevin Vo – Executive Director, extended his gratitude for the solemn reception from VKU, while expressing his impression of the university’s strong, dynamic development and clear strategic direction. He expressed a desire to accompany VKU in developing transnational education cooperation programs. AUG has over 31 years of experience in the field of international education consultancy, with a network of 31 offices across 8 countries, serving as a bridge between students and global educational institutions. AUG always aims to help learners access international education conveniently and effectively.

During the working session, both parties discussed and agreed upon several important cooperation contents. In the immediate future, both sides will strengthen short-term exchange activities for students and lecturers, including the potential implementation of the Eco-study program—a model currently receiving significant interest from universities and educational agencies in Malaysia. Simultaneously, AUG will support connecting competition teams within the Southeast Asian region, particularly Malaysian universities, to participate in the “Innocamp – Accommodating Creative Ideas for Resilient and Sustainable Development” (ACIR) competition organized by VKU. Based on these initial cooperative activities, both parties will move toward signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and implementing long-term, sustainable cooperation programs.

The working session between VKU and AUG Vietnam took place in an open, cooperative, and effective atmosphere. The agreed-upon cooperation orientations will not only contribute to enhancing VKU’s training quality but also open up numerous international learning and experiential opportunities for students, step-by-step affirming the University’s position in the process of global educational integration.
