After nearly four months of learning, research, and experience in an international environment, the internship journey of eight students from Vietnam–Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), The University of Danang, through the “FITM International Internship Program 2026” at King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), Prachinburi Campus, Thailand, has come to a successful conclusion. More than an internship program, this was a valuable journey that gave VKU students the opportunity to experience an international academic environment, conduct research with foreign lecturers, and gain a deeper understanding of Thai culture and people.

The program brought together eight students majoring in Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence: Luu Thi To An (22SE2), Nguyen Minh Nhat (23AI), Trinh Duong Giang (23GIT), Tran Thi Thuy Duong (23GITB), Le Thi Tham (23GITB), Truong Minh Khanh Long (23GITB), Vo Dinh Phu (23GIT), and Nguyen Tran Viet Hao (24AI). Before officially joining the FITM International Internship Program 2026, the students went through a selection and interview process conducted by the Thai partner institution.

The internship was implemented in two stages, beginning with two months of online internship activities from April 16 to June 15, 2026. During this period, each student was connected with a FITM lecturer and worked directly with the supervisor on a one-to-one basis to identify a research direction, review relevant materials, develop a research methodology, and plan their project. This was also an important preparation stage before the VKU students traveled to Thailand to continue their internship and research activities in person.

From June 18 to August 18, 2026, the eight students officially joined FITM, KMUTNB – Prachinburi Campus, for the on-site internship stage. Here, the work developed during the online period was further implemented through experiments, research activities, project development, and the preparation of final reports. Working directly in laboratories, regularly discussing their work with supervisors, and and gaining exposure to research methods in an international environment gave the students practical experiences that were different from their regular classroom learning.

A key feature of the program was that each student was not only involved in common activities but also responsible for developing an individual research project. From identifying a research problem, reviewing relevant materials and developing methods to conducting experiments and completing the final report, the students experienced a relatively complete research process in an international academic environment. This process required initiative, the ability to work independently, and a strong sense of responsibility, while helping them gradually improve their professional knowledge, research skills, English communication, and academic discussion skills.

On August 13, 2026, the VKU students presented their internship results and research projects to FITM lecturers. This was an important milestone marking nearly four months of effort by the student group, from their first online discussions to the direct implementation of research activities in Prachinburi. Each presentation not only summarized the results achieved but also gave the students an opportunity to reflect on their work, the challenges they had encountered, and the lessons they had gained from working in an international academic environment.

Alongside their academic activities, the two months of living and studying in Thailand also provided the VKU students with a rich range of experiences. They took part in various activities organized by FITM, including visits, cultural exchanges, and programs for international students. In particular, their participation in Teacher’s Day, a special occasion to express appreciation to teachers, and the FITM Anniversary gave the students opportunities to gain a deeper understanding of student life, culture, and distinctive features of the university environment in Thailand.

Beyond the campus, trips to explore Khao Yai National Park, an archery activity in Nakhon Nayok, and opportunities to learn more about local life, people, and culture made the internship an especially memorable experience. Spending time together studying, conducting research, and living in Prachinburi also helped the students strengthen their bonds, build new friendships, and learn how to adapt to life in a completely different environment.

As the “FITM International Internship Program 2026” came to an end, the eight VKU students returned with research results, practical experience, and valuable memories from their time in an international environment. More importantly, the journey gave them an opportunity to directly test their own abilities, broaden their perspectives, build confidence, and strengthen their ability to adapt to a multicultural environment.

From the first online working sessions to the days of conducting research, studying, and experiencing life in Prachinburi, the FITM International Internship Program 2026 left a lasting impression as a learning journey that went beyond the traditional classroom. The success of the program continues to create opportunities for VKU students to access international learning environments, gradually develop their global competencies, and prepare for future academic and professional opportunities.
