On July 17, 2026, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), The University of Danang, and King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), Thailand held a working session to evaluate the outcomes of the CITA 2026 International Scientific Conference, while discussing plans to coordinate the organization of the CITA 2027 International Scientific Conference in Thailand and expand cooperative activities in scientific research and training.

Overview of the working session

Attending the working session, on the side of KMUTNB was Prof. Dr. Somrerk Chandra-ambhorn – Vice President. On the side of VKU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector, along with leaders of faculties and functional departments of the two units.

Speaking at the working session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap highly appreciated the outstanding results of the CITA 2026 International Scientific Conference, affirming that this is an important foundation to continue elevating the conference, expanding the international research collaboration network, and enhancing connections among scientists, lecturers, and researchers in the region as well as around the world.

According to the summary report, CITA 2026 received 442 manuscripts from over 40 countries, mainly from Asia and Europe. After a rigorous peer-review process, 156 papers were accepted for publication, reaching a rate of approximately 35%, reflecting the growing prestige and attraction of the conference. The works were published in the proceedings series Springer Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems (LNNS) and indexed in prestigious scientific databases such as Scopus, DBLP, and Web of Science. The conference also gathered many leading speakers and experts from China, South Korea, Germany, and Vietnam, contributing to enhancing the academic quality and international value of the event.

On the basis of these successes, VKU and KMUTNB agreed on the orientation to coordinate the organization of the CITA 2027 International Scientific Conference in Thailand with the goal of continuing to elevate academic quality, expand the scale, and attract a large number of international researchers. Both sides set a target of achieving a minimum of 100 accepted and registered papers, while focusing on building a high-quality scientific program that meets international standards.

Regarding organizational work, both sides exchanged various options for selecting the venue in Bangkok or surrounding areas to leverage the advantages of modern transportation infrastructure, convenient for international delegates. CITA 2027 is expected to have leaders of VKU and KMUTNB serve as Co-General Chairs; at the same time, professors and scientists from Thailand will be invited to participate in the Program Chair and Steering Committee, contributing to enhancing internationality and diversity in academic executive management. The EasyChair conference management system will continue to be used to manage submission, review, and selection processes of scientific works.

Besides the plan to organize CITA 2027, the two universities also discussed various strategic cooperation orientations on the occasion of heading toward the 5th anniversary of establishing cooperative relations between VKU and KMUTNB. Both sides agreed to expand cooperation from the field of conference organization to implementing joint research projects, establishing international research groups, and enhancing academic exchange between lecturers and scientists of the two universities.

In the field of training, VKU and KMUTNB proposed implementing a co-supervision model for students carrying out graduation projects and theses; inviting professors from both universities to join thesis and dissertation defense committees; as well as organizing scientific conferences and research forums for students to promote research capacity and international integration right from the undergraduate level. In particular, both sides agreed to encourage lecturers and students to strengthen research cooperation and jointly publish scientific works at prestigious international conferences and journals, thereby contributing to elevating the quality of scientific research, expanding the academic collaboration network, and affirming the position of VKU and KMUTNB in the regional higher education community.

The working session further affirmed the increasingly strong cooperative relationship between VKU and KMUTNB. The agreed orientations will serve as an important foundation for successfully organizing the CITA 2027 International Scientific Conference in Thailand, while expanding cooperation in research, training, and internationalization between the two universities in the upcoming period.
