Graduation Ceremony 2026: VKU students demonstrate global competence and expand international career opportunities

On the morning of May 8, 2026, the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Da Nang, solemnly held the 2026 Graduation Ceremony for nearly 450 full-time students of the 2021-2026 cohort. The event marked an important milestone, recognizing the efforts and growth of a new generation of digital citizens – newly graduated engineers and bachelors who are ready to integrate, and affirm themselves in the digital era.

Overview of the Ceremony

Attending the ceremony, on behalf of the University of Da Nang, were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac – Vice President of the University of Da Nang, representatives of member universities and affiliated units, as well as leaders of domestic and international partners and enterprises. Representing VKU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of the university, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector, together with faculty members, staff, students, nearly 450 graduates from the 2021 intake, and more than 900 parents and guests.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap, Rector of the university, delivered the opening remarks

In his speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap congratulated the 414 newly graduated engineers and bachelors who had successfully completed their academic and training journey at VKU over the past four years, achieving many impressive results, with more than 30% earning Excellent and Good classifications. These achievements reflect the students’ perseverance, intelligence, and dedication, together with the wholehearted support of lecturers, guided by the educational philosophy of “Humanism – Dedication – Liberation” and the silent sacrifices and unconditional love of parents who have always trusted and followed their children throughout their educational journey. Such accomplishments continue to affirm the university’s growing reputation and position through academic and intellectual competitions at both national and international levels, as well as its contribution to providing high-quality human resources for society. He also expressed his confidence that VKU graduates will continue striving for personal and professional development, maximizing their talents and knowledge to contribute meaningfully to the development of the country in the future.

Addressing the newly graduated Engineers and Bachelors, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap expressed his delight at their achievements today, recalling that they began their university journey during the challenging period of the Covid-19 pandemic, when classes had to be conducted online instead of in traditional classrooms filled with laughter and interaction. However, it was through those hardships that they demonstrated the resilience, perseverance, and adaptability of a generation of digital citizens – individuals capable of turning difficulties into opportunities, challenges into motivation, and readily adapting to the rapid changes of the modern world.

The year 2021 marked an important milestone for VKU as the university pioneered the implementation of bilingual global training programs in English-Vietnamese, Japanese-Vietnamese, and Korean-Vietnamese. These programs were designed to internationalize education, enhance global integration capabilities, and train high-quality engineers and bachelors to meet the demands of the international labor market. After nearly five years of implementation, the first cohort of students from these programs has clearly demonstrated the effectiveness of a training model that closely integrates academia, enterprises, and an international learning environment.

Even before graduation, students from the 2021 cohort achieved many remarkable and encouraging accomplishments. Numerous students participated in international internships, practical training, and exchange programs lasting from three months to one year in countries such as South Korea, Japan, and Thailand. Through these opportunities, they gained valuable hands-on experience, strengthened their professional knowledge and skills, and improved their adaptability in multicultural environments. Notably, many students from the Japanese-Vietnamese and Korean-Vietnamese bilingual Software Engineering programs were officially recruited by domestic and international companies prior to graduation. This serves as clear evidence of the university’s training quality, students’ global integration capabilities, and the growing recognition of VKU graduates by the labor market.

In addition, innovation and entrepreneurship activities among students have also achieved remarkable progress. A notable example is ShieldNet, a startup project developed by students from the 2021 cohort, which successfully secured a total investment of USD 25,000. The project has initially commercialized its products and entered the market, clearly demonstrating the strong potential of the university’s innovation and startup ecosystem.

In particular, Mai Nguyen Xuan Thao, a student from class 21AD majoring in Information Technology with a specialization in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, was admitted to the Combined Master’s and Doctoral Program at Ewha Womans University shortly before graduation, receiving a scholarship worth more than KRW 110 million (equivalent to over VND 2 billion).

Today’s achievements represent only the initial milestones in VKU’s broader vision of becoming a key institution within the University of Da Nang system, undertaking national strategic missions in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, big data, fintech, applied semiconductors, and cybersecurity. The university is striving toward the goal of ranking among the Top 150 universities in Asia and Top 100 globally in the field of Computer Science by 2030, in line with the spirit of Conclusion No. 45 of the Central Steering Committee.

Student Dinh Viet Phuong – a newly graduated Engineer in Information Technology – shared his reflections

Representing nearly 450 newly graduated engineers and bachelors, Dinh Viet Phuong, a graduate of the Korean-Vietnamese Bilingual Software Engineering Program, expressed his pride and deep gratitude toward VKU – the institution that has accompanied and nurtured the growth journey of the 2021-2026 cohort. Reflecting on the early days of enrollment during the challenging Covid-19 pandemic, he shared that VKU students had placed their trust in a young yet ambitious university. Today, that trust has been validated through their maturity, resilience, and proud accomplishments. Through its educational environment, VKU has not only equipped students with modern knowledge and professional expertise but also fostered the spirit of “Humanism – Dedication – Liberation,” encouraging creative thinking, social responsibility, and aspirations for global integration. Opportunities to study, conduct research, and participate in internships in South Korea, Japan, and Thailand, together with the dedicated support of lecturers, families, and partner enterprises, have become invaluable foundations for students to confidently step into the future. On behalf of the graduates, he expressed sincere gratitude to the university, lecturers, and parents, while affirming that the new generation of VKU engineers and graduates will continue to uphold the spirit of daring to think, daring to act, and continuously creating meaningful value for the community and society.

Outstanding new engineers and bachelors receive graduation certificates

At the 2026 Graduation Ceremony, the university awarded degrees to 412 newly graduated engineers and bachelors from the 2021-2026 cohort. Among them, two students were honored as valedictorians in Information Technology and Computer Engineering Technology, receiving certificates of merit from the President of the University of Da Nang. In addition, 17 students graduated with Excellent honors and 22 students with Good honors were awarded certificates of merit by the Rector. Notably, 100% of VKU students completed and defended their graduation theses entirely in English. Another impressive achievement is that more than 95% of graduates secure jobs related to their majors or specializations within six months after graduation, with average starting salaries ranging from VND 8 million to 20 million per month. Many graduates have been recruited by leading domestic and international technology corporations such as LG, FPT, Hitachi, Connexus, Kaopiz, Quest Global, DG Feelist (Japan), and NecScat (Japan). These accomplishments provide strong evidence affirming VKU’s reputation and position as one of the leading universities in Central Vietnam and across the country in digital technology and digital economy education, while further strengthening the confidence of parents and prospective students in choosing VKU for their academic journey.

The 2026 Graduation Ceremony concluded in an atmosphere filled with joy, pride, and emotion. The newly graduated VKU engineers and bachelors shone with confidence, gratitude, and aspirations to contribute to society. Their journey at VKU has equipped them not only with knowledge and professional skills but also with the courage, creativity, and responsibility of a generation of digital citizens. From today onward, they will carry these values with them as they embark on new journeys, write their own success stories, and contribute to the development of the country in the digital era. The ceremony was not only a milestone recognizing the students’ academic achievements and personal growth, but also a strong affirmation of the reputation, position, and pioneering mission of the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Da Nang, in training and nurturing high-quality human resources for the nation’s digital future.
