On the morning of October 10, 2024, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang, participated in the Youth Innovation Festival 2024 held by the Quang Nam Provincial Youth Union in Nui Thanh District. This event was organized in response to the National Digital Transformation Day 2024, themed “Promoting Digital Infrastructure and Innovative Digital Applications for Economic Development – A New Driver for Economic Growth and Labor Productivity.”

Overview of the Youth Innovation Festival 2024 in Quang Nam

The program was attended by representatives from Quang Nam Provincial Youth Union, Nui Thanh District People’s Committee, Vietnam Creative Labor Association, Da Nang Center for Applied Science and Technology under the Vietnam Institute for Talent Development, and leaders from high schools, along with over 300 high school students. Representing VKU was Dr. Nguyen Vu Anh Quang, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Engineering and Electronics, leading a delegation of faculty members and students.

In his speech at the festival, Dr. Nguyen Vu Anh Quang introduced VKU, which was established in 2020 with an annual enrollment target of 1,500 students and an average admission score of 24 for 14 training programs in information technology, communication, and the digital economy. To date, VKU has nearly 7,000 students and aims to reach 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students by 2030. The faculty currently includes nearly 300 members, among them about 70 doctors and associate professors. VKU has also focused on connecting and building a network of over 200 strategic partners, including domestic and international organizations and enterprises, to support training, employment recruitment, and funding. The university has implemented bilingual training programs in English-Vietnamese, Japanese-Vietnamese, Korean-Vietnamese, and organized numerous activities, international academic-cultural exchange programs, practical projects, internships, and enhanced foreign language instruction, with 100% of student theses written/presented in English.

Students are experiencing Robocar Competition – Road to VKU at the festival

At Quang Nam Youth Innovation Festival 2024, VKU organized an experiential Robocar competition themed “Road to VKU,” featuring 9 teams from Le Quy Don High School, Nui Thanh High School, Cao Ba Quat High School, and Nguyen Hue High School. In a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere, the teams showcased impressive Robocar control performances. The competition required not only programming and robot control skills but also creativity and quick problem-solving abilities. The challenging and thrilling racetracks captivated the audience, who enthusiastically cheered for the impressive robot racing displays.

With a spirit of useful and creative competition, the event provided students with the opportunity to engage with real-world technology and ignited their passion for science and engineering, opening up potential pathways in information technology and communication. Ultimately, the organizers awarded the first prize to the team from Le Quy Don High School (Tam Ky City).

The Quang Nam Youth Innovation Festival 2024 contributed to igniting the creative passion among the youth and young union members in Quang Nam Province through various activities, including inspiring creative exchanges, startup training, and sharing the creative journey of the Tech Warriors team – a group of students from Nguyen Hue High School, Quang Nam, who won first place in the Danang Open Robot Contest 2024 for High Schools.

The 2024 Quang Nam Youth Innovation Festival truly sparked a creative passion among the youth and young union members throughout the province. With meaningful activities, the event not only provided a valuable playground but also laid a foundation for the youth to feel more confident in exploring and developing their creative potential, contributing to future technological advancement and entrepreneurship.

VKU’s Booth at the 2024 Digital Transformation Festival for Youth

On the same morning, VKU showcased its products and introduced training programs in Semiconductor Design, Computer Engineering Technology, Information Security, etc., at the 2024 Digital Transformation Festival for Youth held at the Da Nang City Youth Union. The festival attracted hundreds of youth members and students, featuring 20 exhibition booths showcasing digital transformation products, innovative creations, and scientific research by students in the fields of AI, IoT, semiconductors, as well as startup products and technological innovations from IT companies in Da Nang.
