On the morning of July 19, 2026, in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam–Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), The University of Danang, in collaboration with Phenikaa University, the ASEAN Consortium for Innovation and Research (ACIR), and Vietnam Association of Faculties-Institutes-Schools-Universities of ICT (FISU Vietnam), officially inaugurated the 15th Conference on Information Technology and its Applications (CITA 2026). The conference is organized with the support of Springer, the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society, and many prestigious universities and research institutes worldwide. CITA 2026 is also sponsored by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) through its ODA project.

Overview of the Opening Ceremony

CITA 2026 marks a significant milestone, celebrating the 15-year journey of the CITA conference series—one of the leading international academic forums in information technology, communications, and related fields, initiated and continuously organized by VKU. Over the past 15 years, CITA has evolved into an annual gathering for researchers from Vietnam and around the world, fostering knowledge exchange, promoting scientific research and innovation, strengthening international collaboration, and contributing to strengthening Vietnam’s position in the regional and global scientific research landscape.

The opening ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap, Rector of VKU and Chair of the Organizing Committee; Prof. Dr. Vu Van Truong, Vice President of Phenikaa University and Co-Chair of the Organizing Committee; and Prof. Dr. Hab. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (Poland), Chair of the Advisory Board. Distinguished guests also included Prof. Dr. Somrerk Chandra-ambhorn, Vice President of King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), Thailand; Prof. Dr. Tran Xuan Tu, Director of the Institute of Information Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, Vice Rector of VKU; together with leaders of ACIR member universities, professors, scientists, and experts from Vietnam, Poland, Ireland, Luxembourg, South Korea, Thailand, China, and many other countries.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap delivers the opening remarks

In his opening address, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap, Rector of VKU, Chair of the Organizing Committee, Founding Chair of CITA, and Co-Founder of ACIR, warmly welcomed and expressed his sincere appreciation to ACIR, FISU Vietnam, the international scientific community, partner universities and research institutions, businesses and organizations in Vietnam and around the world. He extended special thanks to VKU’s strategic partners, including KOICA, KMUTNB, CADT, and Phenikaa University, as well as distinguished scholars Prof. Dr. Hab. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, Prof. Dr. Le Khac Nhien An, Prof. Dr. Kang-Hyun Jo, Prof. Dr. Franck Leprévost, and Prof. Dr. Christian Boitet, whose valuable support has accompanied VKU and CITA throughout its 15-year development. He emphasized VKU’s responsibility and leadership in advancing information technology education, scientific research, digital transformation, and innovation in Vietnam and across Southeast Asia. After 15 years of development, CITA has evolved beyond a forum for presenting new research findings to become an important academic bridge connecting universities, research institutes, industry, and researchers from Vietnam and around the world. It has played a significant role in fostering an increasingly dynamic and far-reaching research and innovation ecosystem.

Prof. Dr. Vu Van Truong delivers his remarks

CITA 2026 received 442 paper submissions from more than 40 countries and territories. Following a rigorous peer-review process conducted by an international panel of experts, 156 papers were accepted for publication in Springer’s Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems (LNNS) series, indexed by Scopus, DBLP, and Web of Science, resulting in an acceptance rate of approximately 35%. This achievement reflects the conference’s continually improving academic quality and reinforces CITA’s growing reputation within the international research community.

Prof. Dr. Hab. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh presents the opening keynote

During the plenary session, participants attended the opening keynote by Prof. Dr. Hab. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, entitled “Future Trends and Recommendation for Research in AI.” The conference also featured keynote speeches by internationally renowned scholars. Prof. Kang-Hyun Jo (University of Ulsan, South Korea) delivered the keynote “Sensor Fusion Based Ambient Understanding for Wider and Unstructured Environment,” presenting emerging trends in sensor fusion technologies for intelligent systems. Prof. Dr. Joshua Zhexue Huang, Academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering, Honorary Professor at Shenzhen University, and Founding Director of the Big Data Institute, presented “Big Data Analytics for Multi-Cloud Data Centers,” offering valuable insights into big data analytics in multi-cloud computing environments. In addition, leading international experts delivered invited talks on artificial intelligence, natural language processing, optimization, and digital transformation.

The conference features 20 parallel technical sessions and four poster sessions, covering a wide range of research topics, including Data Science and Artificial Intelligence; ICT Infrastructure; Smart Systems and Sustainable Technologies; ICT for Digital Economy and Societal Innovation; Sustainable and AI-Enabled Telecommunication Systems for Perception-Aware Connected Societies; Cyber Security; Digital Forensics and Cryptography; Integrating Social Media Analytics and AI-Driven Crowdsourcing for Smarter Supply Chain Systems; and Modern Computational Intelligence in Digital Economy and Finance.

As part of CITA 2026, the Organizing Committee honored distinguished scientists, partner universities, international organizations, supporting institutions, members of the Steering Committee, Organizing Committee, Scientific Committee, and numerous reviewers who have made significant contributions to building CITA into one of the most respected international conferences in information technology and its applications. This recognition reflects deep appreciation for the dedication of generations of scholars while reaffirming the spirit of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and sustainable development that has defined the CITA brand over the past 15 years.

As it marks its 15th anniversary, CITA not only celebrates its remarkable achievements but also embarks on a new stage of development under the vision of “CITA-Globalization”—expanding its influence as an internationally recognized academic forum across the region and beyond. As the founding institution and principal organizer, VKU continues to affirm its pioneering role in connecting the global academic community, advancing scientific research, fostering innovation, and accelerating digital transformation, thereby contributing to Vietnam’s aspiration of becoming a knowledge- and technology-driven nation. CITA 2026 will continue through July 20, 2026. At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee will present the Best Paper Awards to outstanding authors and research teams in recognition of their excellent scientific contributions.
