VKU receives and works with the delegation from Kitakyushu City (Japan) on semiconductor workforce training strategy

On the morning of March 18, 2026, the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Da Nang hosted and held a working session with a delegation from Kitakyushu City, Japan. The meeting focused on orientations and strategic cooperation in developing high-quality human resources for the semiconductor industry.

Overview of the working session

Attending the working session, the delegation from Kitakyushu City included Mr. Morinaga Yasuhiro – Head of the Future Industry Promotion Committee, Mr. Doshita Takayuki – Representative of the Industrial Employment and Human Resources Policy Office, Mr. Kikuchi Kozo – Representative of FAIS, Ms. Nishio Eriko – Director of JETRO Kitakyushu, and Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia – General Director of NiX Education. Representing VKU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of the university, Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector, along with leaders from relevant departments, faculties, and centers.

Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap expressed his pleasure in welcoming the delegation from Kitakyushu City on their return visit to VKU. Based on the positive outcomes of cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in recent years, the Rector affirmed that VKU places strong emphasis on developing advanced technology fields, particularly semiconductor microchips and artificial intelligence as strategic priorities. He also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to creating favorable conditions for the effective implementation of cooperative programs with Japanese partners. Highlighting VKU’s strengths and development potential, the Rector stated that the Semiconductor Integrated Circuit Design program at VKU attracts high entrance scores, the university’s current student population reaches nearly 8,000, and international cooperation programs are being effectively implemented. Notably, the Japanese-Vietnamese bilingual training program in collaboration with NiX Education has established a solid foundation for further expanding partnerships in training high-quality human resources.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mr. Morinaga Yasuhiro – Head of the Future Industry Promotion Committee expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from VKU, and highly appreciated the university’s strong development potential, as recognized through previous working visits. He noted that VKU students have already participated in interviews and undertaken internships in Kitakyushu, and expressed his hope that more students from VKU will continue to pursue internship and employment opportunities in the city in the future. He also emphasized that VKU students demonstrate solid professional competencies that meet the demands of high-tech industries, thereby reaffirming the city’s readiness to welcome and facilitate their career development. Kitakyushu City is currently prioritizing the development of the semiconductor industry, supported by a dynamic business ecosystem and specialized research centers, and is committed to acting as a bridge to connect Japanese enterprises with VKU.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views and agreed on several key directions for cooperation, with a focus on developing human resources for the semiconductor industry. Specifically, VKU aims to expand enrollment in the semiconductor-related programs, enhance the capacity of its faculty through access to advanced knowledge and technology, cooperate in establishing modern, practice-oriented laboratories and promoting academic exchange, implement hands-on training programs aligned with the needs of Japanese enterprises, and further strengthen partnerships with businesses and universities.

The meeting opened up numerous practical cooperation opportunities between VKU and its Japanese partners, contributing to the enhancement of training quality, research capacity, and the development of high-quality human resources to meet the demands of the semiconductor industry in the context of international integration.
