Tripartite collaboration VKU – KMUTNB – Sun World Ba Na Hills: A new milestone towards comprehensive cooperation and DEFI 2025 international conference
On the morning of August 12, 2025, the Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), University of Danang, together with King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), Thailand, and Sun World Ba Na Hills held a working session to discuss cooperation aimed at enhancing human resource quality, moving towards the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and jointly organizing the International Scientific Conference DEFI 2025 at Ba Na Hills.

Representing KMUTNB were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pichet Sriyanyong – Vice Rector in charge of International Cooperation, Dr. Thitirat Thawornsujaritkul – Rector’s Assistant and Head of KMUTNB Campus in Rayong along with Ms. Phimvalanch Moosikaphan – Director of the Center for International Cooperation. On the VKU side, there were Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector and representatives from various departments and faculties of the university. On behalf of Sun World Ba Na Hills, Mr. Nguyen Lam An – Deputy General Director of Entertainment – Resort and General Manager joined the meeting accompanied by members of the General Management Board and Heads and Deputy Heads of specialized departments.

In his remarks, Dr. Tran The Son, Vice Rector of the university, highlighted the strategic significance of the tripartite partnership, stressing that it not only fosters the connection of resources in human capital, knowledge, and technology, but also establishes a strong foundation for initiatives of international scope. The decision to hold the DEFI 2025 International Scientific Conference at Ba Na Hills will be a key highlight, showcasing the destination as a world-class hub for conferences and seminars, and underscoring the contributions of VKU and KMUTNB to research, innovation, and international integration.

Representing Sun World Ba Na Hills, Mr. Nguyen Lam An affirmed that this marks an important step in advancing the site’s international cooperation efforts, emphasizing that combining the academic prestige of VKU and KMUTNB with the leading tourism brand of Sun World Ba Na Hills will generate distinctive value. He believes that DeFI 2025 will be an event that brings together global experts, scientists, enterprises and investors, thereby fostering research cooperation and developing innovative solutions across multiple fields.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pichet Sriyanyong – Vice Rector in charge of International Cooperation from KMUTNB expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome from Sun World Ba Na Hills and VKU, and affirmed KMUTNB’s readiness to accompany both partners in a long-term collaboration. He emphasized that co-organizing academic events and promoting international cooperation not only contribute to the advancement of science and technology but also help to strengthen the Vietnam – Thailand cooperation relationship and expand opportunities for the communities of scholars and enterprises from the two countries.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the three parties to gain a deeper understanding of each other’s capacities, needs, and long-term cooperation orientations. The delegation toured and learned about the accommodation and working facilities at Ba Na Hills. The Conference on Digital Economy and Financial Technology Innovation (DEFI) 2025, initiated by VKU, is expected to be an international scientific forum on digital economy, financial technology and related fields, and is scheduled to take place in December 2025 at Ba Na Hills.
