The 6th Central – Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad – 2025: affirming the prestige and quality of a competition that meets national and international standards with the mission of discovering and nurturing digital talents
On the morning of March 22, 2025, the Closing Ceremony of the 6th Central – Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad Finals – 2025 was held and hosted by the Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), Danang University, in coordination with Vietnam Association for Information Processing (VAIP), ICPC Vietnam, the Department of Education and Training of Danang City and Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Danang, with the support of Hanwha Life and ChildFund Korea (CFK) Foundation. This is an attractive and useful playground, promoting the passion for learning, updating, practicing and creating programming solutions, contributing to providing high-quality human resources in the future for the Central – Central Highlands region in particular and the whole country in general.
Overview of the Closing Ceremony of the 6th Central – Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad Finals – 2025
Attending the closing ceremony, the distinguished guests included:

Additionally, the event welcomed members of the Steering Committee, Organizing Committee, Judging Panel, Examination Committee, Vietnam Association for Information Processing (VAIP), ICPC Vietnam, Representatives of the school leadership, team leaders, supervising teachers and parents from 196 high schools for the gifted, high schools, middle schools, primary schools whose contestants qualified for the finals, along with a large number of VKU students and finalists.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Pham Tan Ngoc Thuy – Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Danang City, Co-Chair of the Organizing Committee affirmed that the 6th Central – Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad – 2025 has truly had a great significance and role in contributing to discovering and nurturing talents, promoting the development of IT training in high schools and training high-quality technology human resources for the country and the world. To achieve this result, it is thanks to the dedication and efforts of the Steering Committee, Organizing Committee, Judging Panel,… managers, leading experts in this field, especially the key, proactive and dedicated role of Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology – a leading public university in in-depth training in information technology, communications and digital economy.

Representing the Vietnam Association for Information Processing (VAIP), ICPC Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Long highly appreciated the role and responsibility of the organizing units. According to him, this year’s competition was truly “explosive” with careful and grand preparation and the responsibility and dedication of Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU). With regard to the “AI Challenge” category, this is the first time that Vietnam has had an AI competition for high school students. These are favorable premises for Vietnam to have its first national AI Olympiad (expected to take place in late May, early June). These are also preparations for Vietnam to have enough courage, skills, professional knowledge and mindset to participate in the international AI Olympiad.

As a representative of the accompanying unit, Mr. Hong Jeong Pyo – Senior Executive Vice President of Hanwha Life, Korea was delighted and moved with the success of the 6th Central – Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad – 2025, which was carefully and methodically organized. He emphasized that this was the second year Hanwha Life had accompanied the competition and it is his honor to meet the most outstanding IT talents at this year’s final round. He shared that the journey with VKU and CFK was related to not only sponsorship, but also a sustainable connection, aiming to support young people on the path to conquering their future. Today’s contestants may be high school students, but in just a few years, they will enter university, reach out to the global playground and contribute to the development of the finance – technology industry. With the desire to create more opportunities, Hanwha Life is committed to continuing to support the young generation of Vietnam through the CSR “Future Plus Vietnam”, a strategic project to nurture talents in the fields of finance and ICT. It is expected that, with a solid technology foundation, young Vietnamese people will be able to realize creative ideas, combining finance and technology to create breakthrough values. Hanwha Life is not only a business, but also a companion of the young generation on the journey of creating the future and building a better world. The experiences from today’s competition will be an important stepping stone for their success in the future.
Contestants went through the Preliminary Round (February 16, 2025) and the Semi-Final Round (March 2, 2025) which were both conducted online with 2,848 students from 400 high schools for the gifted, high schools, middle schools and primary schools from 63 provinces/cities nationwide at 04 categories: AI Challenge, Super Cup (for students joining the National Excellent Student Competition in Information Technology); Specialized Informatics (for Specialized/Chosen Informatics students from high schools for the gifted) and Non-Specialized Informatics (for the remaining types of contestants). Based on the results of the two rounds above, the Organizing Committee and the Judging Panel selected 775 best candidates to advance to the Final Round, including 30 teams (120 candidates) for AI Challenge, 180 candidates for Super Cup, 170 candidates for Specialized Informatics and 305 candidates for Non-Specialized Informatics.
All exam questions of the 4 categories – AI Challenge, Super Cup, Specialized Informatics and Non-Specialized Informatics – were guaranteed to be of high quality, reliable, and secure and were designed by the Examination Committee consisting of prestigious experts nominated by the Vietnam Association for Information Processing (VAIP) and ICPC Vietnam. The Examination Committee is chaired by Mr. Nguyen Long, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Association for Information Processing (VAIP) and Director of ICPC Vietnam. Subject matter experts include Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Phan Thuan (Vietnam Association for Information Processing), Dr. Do Duc Dong (Hanoi National University), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phi Le (Hanoi University of Science and Technology).
3 excellent students won the Championship Cup of the 3 categories
At the end of the 6th Central – Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad – 2025, the Organizing Committee awarded Gold, Silver, Bronze medals and Encouragement prizes to the following categories:
- AI Challenge: AI-Love-You (students from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted and Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Binh Dinh) won the Championship; Luxubu (students from Luong Van Chanh High School for the Gifted, Phu Yen) won the First Prize; 02 Second Prizes, 06 Third Prizes and 19 Encouragement prizes were awarded to other teams.
- Super Cup: 14 Gold Medals; 20 Silver Medals, 39 Bronze Medals and 65 Encouragement prizes.
- Specialized Informatics: 25 Gold Medals, 41 Silver Medals, 58 Bronze Medals and 41 Encouragement prizes.
- Non-Specialized Informatics: 41 Gold Medals, 70 Silver Medals; 99 Bronze Medals and 56 Encouragement prizes.
In addition, contestants and teams with high rankings will receive valuable prizes, specifically as follows:
+ Championship Award: for contestants with the highest ranking in each category (03 prizes for 3 categories); Cup and bonus of 5,000,000 VND each were awarded to Tran Si Quy, Phan Boi Chau Secondary School, Da Nang (Non-Specialized Informatics), Nguyen Minh Duc, Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, Hai Phong (Specialized Informatics) and Nguyen Khanh Phuc, Truong Han Sieu Secondary School, Ninh Binh (Super Cup)
+ Runner-Up Award: for contestants with the second highest ranking in each category (03 prizes for 3 categories); Cup and bonus of 3,000,000 VND each were awarded to Bui Minh Nhat, Le Hong Phong Secondary School, Da Nang (Non-Specialized Informatics); Pham Thanh, Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted, Hanoi (Specialized Informatics); Nguyen Phu Nhan, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang (Super Cup).
+ Third-Place Award: for contestants with the third highest ranking in each category (03 prizes for 3 categories); Cup and bonus of 2,000,000 VND each were awarded to Tran Duy Tung, Le Do Secondary School, Da Nang (Non-Specialized Informatics); Ho Khanh Dan, Nguyen Hue Secondary School, Da Nang (Specialized Informatics); Dang Xuan Bach, Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted, Gia Lai (Super Cup).
+ Talent Award: 45 Talent prizes for 3 categories with bonus of 1,000,000 VND each; for 15 contestants with the next highest rankings.
The Overall Team prizes were awarded to 03 excellent teams
In addition, there were 03 Overall Team prizes for teams with the most finalists and the highest percentage of winners, specifically: the Overall First prize (with bonus of 4 million VND) was awarded to Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang; the Overall Second prize (with a bonus of 3 million VND) was awarded to Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted, Hanoi; the Overall Third prize (with a bonus of 2 million VND each) was awarded to Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted and Phan Chau Trinh High School, Da Nang.
The total prize value awarded to contestants and teams with high achievements is 110,000,000 VND (One hundred and ten million VND).
Moreover, students who win First, Second, Third and Encouragement prizes will be given priority for direct university admission and enjoy additional benefits in accordance with the direct admission policies of the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology – Danang University (https://vku.udn.vn and http://tuyensinh.vku.udn.vn/) as well as other universities that offer independent admission policies.
On the other hand, to create the most favorable conditions for students from provinces/cities outside of Danang city to attend the final round, the Organizing Committee has created favorable conditions and maximum support with accommodation, free meals and uniforms to all candidates, parents and teachers during the exam days.
