Short-term Training Program in Korea: Many New Opportunities for Cooperation and Development Between VKU and Korean Partners
Within the framework of the ODA project funded by KOICA, a delegation from the University of Danang, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), led by Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, Vice Rector, along with 20 members who are heads and deputy heads of the university’s departments, faculties, and centers, successfully completed a short-term training program at Kyung Hee University (KHU), Korea, from July 21-28, 2024.

During the program, the delegation actively participated in in-depth seminars on university governance and decision-making, financial management in higher education, document management systems, human resource systems, facilities and administrative management, and many other topics. They also explored the role of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, university-business cooperation, as well as Korean culture. These topics were presented by professors and experienced leaders in management at KHU.

In addition, the VKU delegation experienced the multimedia laboratory system equipped with modern facilities for implementing Metaverse, virtual drone control equipment; visited the central library, stores selling products derived from KHU’s scientific research and startup activities, as well as student service areas, dormitories, and some KHU training facilities. The delegation also visited the Samsung Innovation Museum (SIM) and experienced Korean culture at Bukchon Hanok Village, explored the Blue House (Cheongwadae) – the residence and workplace of 12 Korean Presidents, and Gyeongbokgung Palace.

Sharing about the trip, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho highly praised the positive and dedicated attitude of the delegation members, who actively shared and exchanged experiences and benchmarked university governance between VKU and KHU. This allowed them to draw practical experiences in operating and implementing activities at VKU. It is hoped that through this trip, VKU will gain many new initiatives and methods to apply in practice, thereby enhancing the quality of teaching, research, and university management.

The fruitful outcome of this trip has opened up many new opportunities for cooperation and development between VKU and Korean partners, contributing to enhancing VKU’s management and higher education training capacity in the future. It also accelerates the successful implementation of the project for strengthening VKU’s academic development in ICT education, research, and governance for the period 2022-2027, worth 7.7 million USD from the non-refundable ODA funds provided by the Korean Government through KOICA.
