Opening Ceremony of the 6th Central – Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad Finals – 2025
On the afternoon of March 21, 2025, the Finals of the 6th Central – Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad officially commenced at the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang. The event is organized by VKU in collaboration with the Vietnam Informatics Association, ICPC Vietnam, the Department of Education and Training of Danang, and Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, with the support of Hanwha Life and the ChildFund Korea (CFK) Foundation. This competition serves as a valuable platform for students to enhance their programming skills, develop creative thinking, and stay updated with the latest technology trends. Additionally, it contributes to training high-quality IT human resources for the Central – Central Highlands region and the country as a whole.

Additionally, the event welcomed members of the Steering Committee, Organizing Committee, Judging Panel, and Examination Committee, as well as representatives from the Vietnam Informatics Association and ICPC Vietnam. Also in attendance were representatives from school leadership, team leaders, supervising teachers, and parents of students from 196 specialized high schools, high schools, secondary schools, and primary schools whose contestants qualified for the finals, along with many VKU students and finalists.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU – warmly welcomed esteemed delegates, distinguished guests, teachers, parents, and nearly 800 outstanding contestants who have successfully advanced to the Final Round of the 6th Central – Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad – 2025. These finalists were selected through a highly competitive process from nearly 3,000 participants in the preliminary rounds.

Over the past three years, its admission scores have consistently ranked among the highest in Vietnam, with nearly all programs requiring entry scores between 24 and 27 points.

Since 2024, the Olympiad has received valuable sponsorship and support from Hanwha Life and the ChildFund Korea (CFK) Foundation, enhancing resources for event organization and contestant support.
The 6th Central – Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad – 2025 has grown significantly in scale, attracting 2,848 students from 400 schools across all provinces and cities nationwide. This year’s competition introduces a new AI Challenge category, alongside the three traditional categories: Super Cup; Specialized Informatics and Non-Specialized Informatics.
With contributions from esteemed experts from the Vietnam Informatics Association, ICPC Vietnam, and VKU, the exam questions have been meticulously designed to ensure rigorous evaluation, high differentiation, and absolute fairness. After the Preliminary Round (February 16, 2025) and the Semifinals (March 2, 2025)—both conducted online — the Judging Panel selected 775 outstanding contestants to compete in today’s Final Round. The competition results will be recognized by multiple universities as a criterion for direct admission, offering valuable opportunities for top-performing students.
The total prize value for the 6th Central – Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad amounts to 110,000,000 VND (One hundred ten million VND). Additionally, top-ranking contestants who choose to pursue university studies at VKU will have the opportunity to participate in internships and practical experiences in South Korea.
Furthermore, winners of First, Runner-up, and Third Prizes will be given priority for direct university admission and enjoy additional benefits in accordance with the direct admission policies of the Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU) – the University of Danang (https://vku.udn.vn and http://tuyensinh.vku.udn.vn/), as well as other universities that offer independent admission programs.
The Central – Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad has continuously evolved and innovated, establishing itself as a national and international-standard competition. During the Opening Ceremony of the Final Round of the 6th Central – Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad, the Organizing Committee expressed deep appreciation for the invaluable support of Hanwha Life and ChildFund Korea (CFK), Korea. Immediately after the Opening Ceremony, 775 contestants will compete in the Final Round across three categories: Super Cup, Specialized Informatics, and Non-Specialized Informatics. The exam content and format follow the standards of National and International Informatics Olympiads. All exam questions across the three categories are designed to ensure high quality, reliability, and confidentiality. The Problem-Setting Committee, consisting of renowned experts nominated by the Vietnam Informatics Association and ICPC Vietnam, is responsible for preparing the exams. The committee is led by Mr. Nguyen Long, Vice President and Secretary General of the Vietnam Informatics Association, and Director of ICPC Vietnam. The academic supervisors for the competition are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Phan Thuan (Hanoi University of Science and Technology) and Dr. Đỗ Đức Đông (Vietnam National University, Hanoi).
The Award Announcement, Prize Presentation, and Closing Ceremony of the 6th Central – Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad – 2025 is scheduled to take place on the morning of March 22, 2025.
