In the joyful atmosphere of the historic autumn days, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang, solemnly held the Opening Ceremony of the 2025-2026 academic year. This is an annual event of great significance, marking the beginning of a new journey, where lecturers and students reaffirm their determination, aspirations, and mission to serve the nation in the digital era. Unlike previous years, this year’s ceremony was organized for students from the 2024 and earlier courses. The new students of Cohort 2025, having just completed admission procedures, will have a separate welcome and orientation program tailored to their new journey.

Overview of the 2025-2026 Opening Ceremony

The ceremony was attended by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Chairman of VKU’s Council; Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector; representatives from the functional departments of the University of Danang; along with lecturers and staff; and more than 200 student representatives, creating a solemn, warm and inspiring atmosphere for the ceremony.

He emphasized that each academic year is not only a milestone but also a reminder for VKU students to continue learning, researching, innovating, and serving society. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering a learning environment of Humanity- Dedication-Liberation, closely connecting training with research, knowledge with practice, and individual aspirations with the nation’s development. In the resounding sound of the ceremonial drum, the entire hall was filled with renewed strength and determination to begin a new academic year full of challenges and opportunities.

Honoring Outstanding Students of the 2024-2025 Academic Year

Looking back at the academic year 2024-2025, VKU takes pride in many remarkable achievements. The university’s admission scores remained among the highest nationwide, and more than 95% of graduates secured employment within just six months. VKU students won numerous awards in academic competitions, scientific research, and innovation at both national and international levels. International cooperation was further expanded, offering students diverse opportunities for exchange programs, scholarships, and internships at prestigious partner universities in Korea, Japan, Thailand, and beyond. VKU also successfully hosted major international events, such as the Vietnam International Mathematical Competition (VIMC 2025), the International Conference on Information Technology and its Applications (CITA 2025) in Cambodia, and important national academic contests including the Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad and the National Youth Informatics Competition. Research and technology transfer projects in collaboration with enterprises were strongly promoted, reaffirming VKU’s role in training high-quality human resources to meet the demands of the global labor market.

For the 2025-2026 academic year, with new opportunities and challenges ahead, VKU has set the theme “Go Global – Lead the Future.” This reflects the university’s commitment to further innovating its training programs, expanding bilingual and international majors, advancing scientific research and international publications, and creating more academic playgrounds at both national and international levels. At the same time, VKU will strengthen partnerships with enterprises, bringing students closer to real-world environments, while fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and the development of global competencies.

National Opening Ceremony of the 2025-2026 Academic Year Organized by the Ministry of Education and Training

Immediately after VKU’s own ceremony, all lecturers and students joined the nationwide Opening Ceremony of the 2025-2026 academic year, held online by the Ministry of Education and Training at the National Convention Center. This event not only brought pride to the university community but also recalled the 80-year journey since the establishment of The Ministry of National Education (now the Ministry of Education and Training) – a historic milestone affirming the vital role of education in the development of the nation.

The Opening Ceremony of the 2025-2026 academic year at VKU concluded in a solemn and uplifting atmosphere. The resounding beat of the ceremonial drum served as a call to action, inspiring both lecturers and students to strive with unity, creativity, and determination in affirming VKU’s position on the map of national and international higher education.
