Opening Ceremony of Summer School 2025: An opportunity for VKU students to approach the world’s leading experts in the field of cybersecurity
On the morning of August 21, 2025, the Opening Ceremony of the Summer School 2025 on Cybersecurity was held at the Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang. The program aims to create an international academic space for students, graduate students and lecturers to access advanced knowledge and to expand research connections in the fields of Cybersecurity, Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence.

The Summer School welcomed prestigious experts and scientists from the world’s leading institutes and universities, including Prof. Mizuhito Ogawa, Prof. Satoshi Ono, Prof. Nguyen Le Minh, Dr. Tran Duc Vu and Ms. Nguyen Van Anh – Assistant Professor of the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST); Prof. Jean-Yves Marion from the University of Lorraine, France; Dr. Vu Viet Anh from the University of Cambridge, UK (attending online); and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thu Lam from Vietnam Academy of Cryptography; Representing VKU was Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector along with lecturers, students, and graduate students from inside and outside the university.

In his remarks, Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector of the university sent a warm welcome to experts, lecturers, students, and graduate students attending Summer School 2025. Organizing the Summer School is not only an important international academic activity of the university but also reflects VKU’s strategic orientation toward integration, global knowledge exchange, and the affirmation of its position in training and research in the field of cybersecurity. Over the years, VKU has gradually built a team of high-quality lecturers, modern training programs and a dynamic academic ecosystem. This strong foundation empowers VKU students majoring in Information Security to confidently engage in prestigious national and international competitions, where they have earned numerous awards. On the other hand, VKU proactively collaborated with EvvoLab, Singapore to successfully organize the Information Security Talent Search Competition (Digital Dragon: The Cybersecurity Challenge – DDC) for two consecutive seasons, attracting a large number of information security enthusiasts from universities across the country. In 2025, DDC will return for its third season, providing young people with an opportunity to challenge themselves, showcase their talents, and nurture their passion for research and creativity. These outstanding achievements and activities have enhanced VKU’s reputation, brand, and competitiveness in the field of cybersecurity, while also serving as a driving force for the university to expand international cooperation and create diverse academic opportunities and platforms for students. With the participation and support of experts from JAIST and other leading global universities, Summer School 2025 is expected not only to provide new knowledge but also to inspire and foster a passion for scientific research among students and trainees, thereby contributing to the development of high-quality human resources for the nation in the digital era.

Over the course of 3 days (August 21-23, 2025), the Summer School program will feature many specialized lectures and scientific seminars. The program content will focus on pressing issues in today’s technology landscape, including AI-based malware detection and classification, the cybersecurity ecosystem, anti-ransomware solutions, and the interplay between cybersecurity and global conflicts. In addition, Summer School offers opportunities for exchange, networking, and cultural tours, creating an open environment that bridges academic learning with practical experiences.
With the involvement of international experts and the active engagement of students and lecturers, Summer School 2025 is expected to make a lasting impression, reaffirming VKU’s position as a hub for training, research, and international collaboration in the field of cybersecurity.
