On the afternoon of May 24, 2023, the delegation of the Incheon City Council, Korea had a visit and work at the Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Da Nang. Leading the delegation was Mr. Heo Shick – City President with the Incheon City Council members. Welcoming the delegation, on the side of VKU, there was Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Nguyen Thanh Binh – University Chairman with the participation of the Department, Faculty leaders.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Nguyen Thanh Binh was pleased to welcome the delegation that visited and worked, on behalf of the Universitys leaders, Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Nguyen Thanh Binh would like to express his deep thanks to the Government, organizations and Korean businesses for their attention and support to the University in the past. Reviewing 10 outstanding milestones and events of the University in 2022, in which, marking an important historical milestone is the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam – Korea diplomatic relations, this is also an opportunity for VKU to express its deep gratitude to the people and governments of the two countries for their investment, support to build and develop the University. In particular, in Da Nang city – Central region, VKU emerged as a bright spot in the friendly relationship between the two countries and peoples with the cooperation and active investment from ODA of the Korean Government in the field of education and training. With the outstanding achievements, VKU once again affirmed and committed to build the university to become a prestigious academy of education, research, technology transfer in the field of IT and related fields according to the modern higher education model.

In response, Mr. Heo Shick thanked the enthusiastic and thoughtful reception of the University. He shared that in the past 30 years, the relationship between Vietnam and South Korea has achieved remarkable development through friendly cooperation and continuous mutual exchanges. The result of that effort is that the relationship between the two countries has reached the level of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. During our visit here, we are really satisfied and feel proud that there is a University associated with a long history of development in the diplomatic relationship between the two countries Vietnam – Korea; this is also an opportunity for us to learn, build investment mechanisms, and support VKU in the near future. Based on the collection and inheritance of strengths and potentials in terms of history, academic achievements and strong staff, VKU will be a prestigious university, providing high quality human resources not only in the country but also abroad. We believe that VKU will achieve more success, creating a sustainable symbol for the friendship of the two countries.

At the end, the leaders of the two sides had discussions on cooperation ideas, and discussed future projects, visions and orientations. From this cohesion, many development opportunities will be opened, maximizing the inherent strengths, building rich development strategies in the future.
