On the morning of September 6, 2024, the 6th Final Round of the Web Design Competition (BWD 2024) was hosted by Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communications Technology (VKU), The University of Danang. This is an academic playground to create an environment for students to access reality and apply the knowledge they have learned to design creative and useful websites.

The BWD 2024 Final Round was a great success with many unique and creative website design ideas

Participating in the BWD 2024 Final Round, on the side of businesses and experts, there were: Mr. Phan Trung Diep – Representative of Leaders from FPT Software in the Central Region; Mr. Nguyen Trong An – Deputy Director of Technology of Enclave Company; Mr. Hoang Xuan Hieu – Head of Danang Branch- Vietnam Internet Center; Ms. Tran Hanh Trang – Founder & CEO of Enosta Group Company; Mr. Ngo Thanh Tung – Deputy General Director, Softech Joint Stock Company and Mr. Ho Duc Linh – Project Manager of Bridge Software Engineer from FPT Software in the Central. On the VKU side, there were: Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communications Technology (VKU), along with leaders of departments, faculties, and centers of the university, members of 13 teams and more than 200 students of various majors interested in and passionate about technology attended and cheered.

The BWD 2024 competition not only creates opportunities for students to interact with experts from large companies and corporations in the field of Information Technology, but also introduces to the community and businesses unique and valuable products of the students at the university.

Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector delivered the opening speech of BWD 2024

In the opening speech of the BWD 2024 final round, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of the University, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee said that the Web design competition is an annual competition organized by VKU, with a large-scale, a systematic investment and an innovation over the years, demonstrated through the professionalism and high competitiveness of the competing teams. Students of the competing teams not only demonstrate their knowledge and skills in website design but also perform their ability to present their products in English. Along with the efforts, VKU pays great attention to innovating the training program, advanced teaching and learning methods. The students have started to make technology products from the first year, and can work in businesses from the second year, also are equipped with in-depth knowledge associated with creative projects, practical scientific research from the third year to be introduced to high-quality engineering human resources for the global market.

The 6th BWD 2024 was held with 2 tournaments: BWD (only for first-year students) and SUPER BWD (for second-year students and above who have won prizes in previous seasons) taking place from May 11, 2024 to September 6, 2024, attracting 936 students to participate in with 266 teams competing in the BWD tournament and 05 teams competing in the SUPER BWD tournament.

Through 2 preliminary rounds, the 6^th BWD 2024 has found 9 excellent teams (BWD tournament) and 04 excellent teams (SUPER BWD tournament) to enter the final round. The teams continue to apply their skills and knowledge to create website products with unique website interfaces, the best features and characteristics, and high applicability such as ideas about: charity donations, health care, travel, shopping, cuisine, etc., ensuring aesthetics and functions that meet user requirements, using technical technologies such as HTML5, CSS, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap, jQuery, ReactJS, Node.js, etc. on popular browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari.

In addition, the Media and Communication Round within BWD 2024 was also held (from June 22, 2024 to July 12, 2024) with more than 20,000 interactions on Facebook.

Members of the Judge raised questions to the teams in BWD 2024

At the BWD 2024 final round, the teams presented their ideas, introduced their website products, demoted their products and answered questions from the Judge, who are experts from FPT Software in the Central, VNNIC, Enosta Group, Softech, iNet. Immediately after each presentation, the Judge gave detailed comments and assessments of the strengths and weaknesses of the products. The questions from the Judge members not only tested the knowledge, designing and programming skills of the contestants, but also pointed out their limitations and suggested directions for developing their products.

Declaring the prizes for the final round of the BWD 2024 Competition, the Organizing Committee selected and awarded 01 First Prize (BWD 2024 tournament) to the Four Start team with website product on environmental protection with the slogan “Environment is our life” and 01 First prize (SUPER BWD tournament) for the Baby Monkey team with the website using AI solution for foreign language learning “Take it easy”. In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded 01 Second prize, 02 Third prizes and 05 consolation prizes to the competing teams in the BWD 2024 Group and 01 Second prize, 1 Third prize, 1 Consolation prize for the competing teams in the Super BWD 2024 Group.

The 6^th BWD 2024 has ended with impressive results, recognizing the creativity and enthusiasm of VKU students. The success of this year’s competition is an important foundation for students to continuously develop and assert themselves in the field of information technology, while contributing to the development of the domestic technology industry and reaching out to the world.
