VKU Welcomes Delegation from the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education, Strengthening Vietnam–Korea Educational Cooperation

On August 7, 2026, Vietnam–Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), The University of Danang, welcomed and held a working session with a delegation from the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education, Korea, to exchange information on VKU’s training model in information and communication technology (ICT) and learn about international educational cooperation projects between the Governments of Vietnam and Korea currently being implemented at VKU.

Overview of the working session

Attending the working session, the delegation from the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education (GBE) was led by Ms. Kim EunJin, GBE Representative and Head of the Delegation, together with education inspectors, teachers, and a group of outstanding high school students from Korea. Representing VKU were leaders and staff from the Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation and relevant units.

At the meeting, VKU representatives warmly welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of the University’s establishment and development. Established in 2020 under a cooperation project between the Governments of Vietnam and Korea, VKU has been equipped with modern facilities and advanced technological infrastructure. The University has gradually affirmed its position as a public, application-oriented university specializing in digital technology and the digital economy. Currently, VKU has nearly 8,000 students enrolled in 19 majors and specializations, including Information Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Communication Technology, Information Security, Semiconductor Chip Design, Automotive Software Engineering, Business Administration, Digital Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Digital Tourism and Travel Management, and Information Technology Project Management, among others. The University has nearly 70 Associate Professors and PhDs on its faculty, while 100% of its lecturers hold at least a master’s degree. Many lecturers have been trained in countries with advanced education systems, including the United Kingdom, France, Korea, and Japan. In addition, VKU continuously promotes the internationalization of education through bilingual Vietnamese–English, Vietnamese–Japanese, and Vietnamese–Korean training programs, contributing to the development of high-quality human resources to meet the demands of the global labor market.

During the working session, Mr. Cho YongSuk, ODA Project Leader ODA Project Leader of the Korean Government’s PMC at VKU at VKU, provided an overview of Korea’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects currently being implemented at VKU, particularly the KOICA ODA Project for the 2022–2027 period, with total funding of USD 7.7 million. The project focuses on four key areas: developing a modern academic environment through network infrastructure, a Smart Campus, and specialized research facilities such as the AR/VR Lab, IoT Maker Space, and Smart Technology Lab; enhancing training capacity; strengthening research capacity; and promoting university–industry cooperation through international internship programs, support for innovative startups, and major academic competitions such as ICPC and the Startup Competition.

During the discussion, the Korean delegation raised a number of questions about VKU’s internationalization strategy, learning opportunities for Korean students, and prospects for future cooperation. The working session took place in an open, friendly, and effective atmosphere, contributing to stronger connections and mutual understanding between the two sides. It also opened up new opportunities for cooperation in education, academic exchange, and the development of high-quality human resources between VKU and educational institutions in Gyeongsangbuk-do in the coming period. Through its international cooperation activities, VKU continues to affirm its role as an important bridge in Vietnam–Korea educational cooperation, contributing to the development of a modern, internationally integrated, and sustainable educational environment.
