The 2026 graduation thesis defense introduces several new initiatives in both organization and implementation. In line with VKU’s educational innovation strategy, students are now offered two thesis pathways: research-oriented projects or entrepreneurship and innovation-oriented projects. This approach enables students to strengthen their research capabilities, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills while developing ideas and products with commercialization potential. It not only enhances the quality of education but also contributes to building VKU’s innovation and startup ecosystem.
This year’s defense is held on a large scale with 636 graduation thesis projects across three academic faculties. The Faculty of Computer Science organizes 20 defense panels for 160 projects completed by 225 students. The Faculty of Computer Engineering and Electronics has four panels evaluating 27 projects from 28 students. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Digital Economy and E-Commerce organizes 54 panels for 449 projects by 449 students. The projects cover a wide range of topics aligned with industry needs and emerging trends in technology, digital economy, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, e-commerce, data analytics, digital finance, project management, and business innovation.

A real-world application project presented by students of the Faculty of Computer Engineering and Electronics
Many projects this year demonstrate strong practical value by addressing real-world business challenges through the application of AI, Machine Learning, Agile, Scrum, Business Analysis, Digital Marketing, digital transformation, software quality management, financial forecasting, credit management, e-commerce, and digital solutions for enterprises. In addition to research-oriented theses, many student teams have actively developed startup-oriented projects, innovative products, digital platforms, and technology solutions with strong potential for real-world implementation, further fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship within the VKU student community.
Another highlight of this year’s graduation thesis defense is that 100% of the theses are written entirely in English, with many students also delivering their presentations and defending their work in English before the evaluation panels. This achievement reflects the continuously improving English proficiency, research competence, and international readiness of VKU students, while also demonstrating the effectiveness of the University’s ongoing internationalization strategy for its academic programs.

Experts from KMUTNB, Thailand, participate in the evaluation panel of the Faculty of Digital Economy and E-Commerce
The quality of the graduation thesis evaluation process has been further enhanced through the participation of distinguished experts and scholars from both Vietnam and abroad. In addition to faculty members and researchers from VKU, partner universities, and industry, this year’s evaluation panels also include professors and researchers from King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), Thailand. The involvement of international experts not only ensures greater objectivity and academic rigor in the evaluation process but also provides students with valuable exposure to international academic standards, helping them strengthen their presentation, critical thinking, and research skills in a global academic environment.
The direct participation of international professors and researchers in evaluating graduation theses also demonstrates the effectiveness of the strategic partnership between VKU and leading universities in the region, particularly KMUTNB. At the same time, it provides valuable opportunities for VKU faculty members and students to enhance academic exchanges, keep pace with emerging research trends, and expand international collaboration in education, scientific research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
The 2026 Graduation Thesis Defense is not only an assessment of students’ academic achievements but also a reflection of VKU’s educational quality, research capacity, innovation ecosystem, and close collaboration with industry. With well-prepared projects addressing practical challenges, together with the dedicated guidance of faculty members, industry experts, and international scholars, VKU continues to advance its vision of becoming an internationally oriented university, providing high-quality human resources to meet the demands of the digital economy and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
