VKU Spreads Traditional Cultural Values Through Da Nang Folk Culture Festival 2026

Continuing to affirm the training orientation associated with practice, taking learners as the center and strongly promoting career experiential activities, on May 24, 2026, at the campus of the eSTI Institute, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Da Nang successfully organized the program “Da Nang Folk Culture Festival 2026” with the theme “Connecting Craft Heritage – Awakening the Taste of the Old Country”. The program was directly built and operated by students of Class 23ET – Digital Tourism and Travel Service Management Major, under the Faculty of Digital Economy and E-Commerce as a practical learning project in the Event Management module.

Not only is it a module conclusion activity in an innovative direction, the program also clearly demonstrates the “Liberal” educational philosophy, the motto “Learning goes hand in hand with practice – Learning goes hand in hand with experiences” that VKU always consistently implements throughout the training ecosystem. Through directly brainstorming ideas, building plans, implementing communication, coordinating operations and organizing experiential activities, students have access to the realistic career environment, improving professional capacity, event management skills, creative thinking and teamwork ability in the field of tourism – services in the digital age.

The festival was organized with the desire to spread the unique traditional cultural values of the Central region, while promoting craft villages, folk cuisine and traditional arts to the student community, creating a bridge between higher education with local culture and accompanying businesses. The program has the participation and coordination of many units, artisans and enterprises operating in the field of tourism – services such as Non Nuoc Viet Tourism Service – Trading Company Limited, Phuong Vu Event Organizing Company Limited along with artisans from Thanh Ha Pottery Village, Hoi An Lantern Village and Hai Van Bai Choi Club under the Cinema Cultural Center of Da Nang City.

In a space rich in national cultural identity, the program vividly recreated the image of traditional Central region craft villages through many elaborately and creatively invested experience areas. Students, lecturers and attendees have the opportunity to directly learn about the traditional manufacturing process at the introduction spaces of Tuy Loan Rice Paper Village, Non Nuoc Fine Arts Stone Village, Thanh Ha Pottery Village and Hoi An Lantern Village. The exchange activity with artisans not only helps attendees better understand local cultural values but also contributes to raising awareness about preserving and promoting traditional craft heritages in the context of current modernization and digital transformation.

Traditional folk dishes and games at the festival

One of the prominent highlights of the program is the Central folk cuisine space with many characteristic dishes and drinks such as Quang Noodles, Banh dap, Rice paper rolls with pork, Black sesame sweet soup, Banh kho me, Mot water, Cleistocalyx operculatus leaf water or Pineapple ginseng water. The booths are designed in an open, close and highly experiential direction, giving attendees the opportunity to enjoy the taste of their hometown in a youthful, modern cultural exchange space. Through this activity, students not only practice organizing, operating and serving skills of events but also contribute to promoting Central culinary culture in a creative, friendly and identity-rich direction.

Besides, the chain of folk art activities and traditional games contributed to creating a vibrant, cohesive atmosphere for the entire program. The Bai Choi singing performances performed by Hai Van Bai Choi Club along with many musical performances with Central region melodies elaborately invested attracted a large number of students to participate and cheer. Many folk games such as Mandarin square capturing, can throwing, bamboo jacks, tug of war also became a point connecting cultural exchange, contributing to building a dynamic, experience-rich university environment and connecting the student community.

Particularly, the entire program was implemented and operated by the students majoring in Digital Tourism and Travel Service Management themselves under the guidance of the professional lecturer team. From designing experience spaces, building content, event communication to logistics, coordination and program operation were carried out methodically and professionally, showing the ability to effectively apply specialized knowledge into practice. This is also a clear proof for the effectiveness of application-oriented training that VKU is strongly implementing in many fields, especially in the digital economy, services and technology industry groups.

Closing with many positive impressions, “Da Nang Folk Culture Festival 2026 – Connecting craft heritage, awakening the taste of the old country” continues to affirm VKU’s efforts in building a modern educational environment, linking training with practical experiences and community responsibility. At the same time, the program also contributes to strongly spreading traditional cultural values, fully awakening the love for the homeland, the awareness of preserving national identity in today’s young generation, in line with the orientation of training high-quality, comprehensive and integrated human resources that VKU is pursuing.
