Vibrant Semifinals of Danang AI4Life 2025 at VKU: Breakthrough Innovations with Artificial Intelligence
On the morning of November 29, 2025, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang, was more vibrant than ever as it hosted the Semifinals of the AI Living Lab and Challenge – Danang AI4Life 2025, category “AI for Life – Applied AI Products.” The event was not only a major academic playground for university students but also a gathering of creative ideas and practical technological solutions aimed at addressing real-world social issues through the power of artificial intelligence.

Outstanding projects shine in the semifinals of Danang AI4Life 2025
The competition aims to promote learning, research, and innovation among students from universities across the region. At VKU, this activity is even more meaningful as it aligns with the university’s strategic direction in developing AI application capabilities and nurturing proactive and creative students who can bring technology into solving essential community challenges. From creating practical application products to initiating technology-based startup projects, the competition serves as a strong catalyst for students to showcase breakthrough thinking and pioneering spirit.
This year, Danang AI4Life attracted exceptional interest with 230 registered teams across two categories: AI for Life and AI Challenge. In the AI for Life Semifinals alone, 77 outstanding project teams were selected from hundreds of submitted ideas. These teams presented their work before ten judging panels consisting of researchers, technology experts, VKU lecturers, and industry representatives, ensuring fairness, professionalism, and comprehensive evaluation.

VKU students present impressive products
The semifinal projects impressed audiences with their diversity, high applicability, and strong human-centered values. Notable among them were healthcare solutions using AI to support cancer diagnosis, retinal and lung disease detection, elderly care, Alzheimer’s monitoring, and newborn health assessment. Education and community support also stood out with projects on intelligent career orientation, virtual tutoring, sign-language conversion models, and tools assisting people with disabilities in accessing information. Additionally, environmental and smart agriculture solutions – such as waste classification, plant disease detection, and air-quality monitoring – reflected students’ concern for sustainability. In cybersecurity and smart city management, ideas such as anti-online scamming, traffic monitoring systems, and recruitment-process optimization demonstrated students’ aspirations to apply AI in building smart cities and protecting users in the digital environment.

High-profile judges from industry partners and VKU faculty
This year’s competition received strong support and sponsorship from various domestic and international enterprises, including FPT Software Central Region, NiX Education, Exection (Japan), GLD-LAB (Japan), and Enosta Group. Notably, Danang AI4Life 2025 is accompanied by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) under the Korean Government’s ODA project implemented at VKU. This collaboration not only reflects KOICA’s long-term commitment to supporting the development of technology education in the Central–Central Highlands region but also helps create a solid foundation for VKU to expand a modern learning and research environment, promote digital transformation, and nurture high-quality technology talent. These contributions play a vital role in enabling students to access international-level intellectual playgrounds like AI for Life.
The Finals of both the AI for Life and AI Challenge categories will take place on December 26–27, 2025. With the groundbreaking ideas showcased in the Semifinals, the VKU community and technology enthusiasts look forward to witnessing outstanding competitions, highly applicable AI products, and deserving teams stepping onto the winner’s podium. Danang AI4Life 2025 continues to affirm the roles of Da Nang City and VKU in fostering young talent, promoting an innovative ecosystem, and bringing artificial intelligence closer to everyday life.
