Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU delivered a speech
Speaking at the working session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU expressed his honor and pleasure in welcoming the delegation of the Ministry of Home Affairs, led by Deputy Minister Vu Chien Thang, on the occasion of their supervision of the Korean language proficiency test and working visit to VKU. Established in 2020, VKU is a public university under the University of Danang, distinguished by its model of international cooperation similar to other institutions in Vietnam such as the Vietnam – Japan University, Vietnam – Germany University, and Vietnam – France University. Beyond its mission of training high-quality human resources in digital technology and the digital economy, VKU holds a special diplomatic significance as a symbol of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Korea. Over the past 5 years, VKU has received strong attention and support from the Korean Government through the ODA project for the 2022 – 2027 period with a total budget of 7.7 million USD aimed at enhancing training and research capacity as well as expanding facilities (Previously, the Korean Government had also invested in 2 phases with a combined budget of 16 million USD). This is not only a practical investment in education, but also a symbol of close friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Korea. In terms of training, VKU enrolls approximately 1,500 students annually, with an average entrance score of 24 points across 19 majors and specializations in the fields of digital technology and digital economy. Currently, VKU has nearly 8,000 students, with a strategic objective of expanding its training scale to around 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students by the year 2030. Notably, VKU is the first university in the Central region to launch enrollment and training in the Semiconductor Design Engineering major. In 2024, the entrance score for this major reached 27 points, ranking among the highest across the country.
Mr. Vu Chien Thang – Deputy Minister of Home Affairs shared his insights
On behalf of the working delegation, Deputy Minister Vu Chien Thang acknowledged and highly appreciated VKU’s efforts in affirming its position as a young but dynamic and creative university, while also excelling in international cooperation. He emphasized that the close coordination between VKU and functional units in organizing the EPS Korean language proficiency exam has helped build credibility while ensuring seriousness, transparency, safety, and quality, which has been warmly acknowledged by the Korean partners.
The Deputy Minister expressed his hope that VKU will continue to promote its unique advantages – as both a public university and a product of the Vietnam – Korea friendship – in order to become a center for high-quality human resources training and a trusted institution for international education and labor cooperation in the Central – Central Highlands region.
