On the afternoon of January 2, 2025, Vietnam – Korea Friendship Information Technology College (VKU), the University of Danang organized the event “The Connection and Gathering of alumni through the ages”. This is a meaningful occasion to celebrate VKU’s 5th establishment anniversary and look back on the journey of 22 years of its formation and development. The event is an opportunity for generations of alumni to meet, exchange, and recall memories associated with the university, while further strengthening the connection amongst generations of VKU’s students.

Attending the event were Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of VKU, MA. Nguyen Kim Cuong – Executive Committee of Trade Union, MA. Nguyen Thi Kim Anh – Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Danang University, MA. Nguyen Van Hung – Secretary of HCYU of VKU, representatives of the leaders of the Departments, Faculties, Centers of VKU and nearly 100 alumni through the periods and in-service students of the university.

In the cozy and emotional atmosphere of the reunion day, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of the university shared: “We are not only celebrating the 5th establishment anniversary of VKU: The journey of 22 years of formation and development today but are also creating an opportunity to look back at the achievements that generations of VKU’s students have made. The bond between the university and generations of alumni is one of the important factors for VKU to continue to thrive vigorously. We are very proud to witness the successes you have achieved, and hope that this event will be a bridge, helping generations of students continue to promote traditions and create cooperation opportunities in the future.”

Over the past 5 years, despite great difficulties and challenges, VKU has made continuous efforts to build solid internal solidarity on the foundation of the educational philosophy of Humanity – Dedication – Liberation, forming a creative and cooperative working and learning environment. In terms of student enrollment, VKU has continuously maintained high standard admissions scores, especially during the last three years with the average admissions scores being from 24 points or more for 16 training fields/majors. Noticeably, the admissions score in 2024 for the major of Semiconductor Design Engineering was up to 27 points, among the top in the country, further affirming the attractiveness and high training quality of the university.

With an international development vision, VKU has been implementing an ODA project of the Korean Government through KOICA, valued at 7.7 million USD, to improve teaching facilities, staff quality, and training programs. The university is also the organizer of many well-known academic playgrounds, notably the Central Highlands Informatics Olympiad competition, attracting the participation of many excellent students nationwide, contributing to improving the quality of education in the region.

Former Secretaries of the Youth Union and Alumni of the university through the periods are sharing their proud memories and stories

The highlight of the event was the proud stories and unforgettable memories recalled by different generations of Youth Union officials and alumni, including MA. Nguyen Kim Cuong – Former Secretary of the Youth Union of Vietnam – Korea Friendship Information Technology College (2013-2020), MA. Nguyen Van Hung – Former Secretary of the Youth Union of College of Information Technology (2017-2020), Mr. Bui Tan Viet – Former student of Vietnam – Korea Friendship Information Technology College course 2 (2008-2011), Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Anh – Former student of College of Information Technology course 3 (currently Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Danang University). Stories about the tough early days, the constant efforts to study to realize dreams in each individual, and the sincere sharing from the alumni, are not only stories about the time of studying, but also valuable lessons about perseverance, effort and aspiration to contribute to the development of the university. These shared stories are like a reminder of the connection amongst generations, that every success of an alumnus is also the success of the whole university.

The event ended with the cozy, emotional atmosphere of the reunion which left unforgettable impressions in the hearts of the alumni through the periods. The story of the efforts and successes of generations of students have further affirmed that VKU is not only a place to study but also a shared home, where people connect and develop together. The values ​​that VKU has brought will continue to be a source of motivation for generations of students to reach out to the world, contributing to the development of society and the country. The event “The Connection and Gathering of alumni through the ages” is ending shortly, but the connections, feelings, and aspirations for the future will continue to be preserved and developed.
