On the morning of December 28, 2024, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), Danang University organized the Final Round of the “Artificial Intelligence and Application – AI Living Lab and Challenge” (Danang AI for Life) competition for VKU students. This is an academic and intellectual playground expected to be held annually, aiming to promote and develop the spirit of learning and scientific research of students across the university, focusing on cultivating research and application of artificial intelligence; encouraging students to proactively create, propose and improve advanced solutions applying artificial intelligence to solve important problems serving life and forming innovative technology startup projects.

In his opening speech, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of VKU sent his greetings to all the delegates and congratulated the 37 teams that had successfully entered the final round. Danang AI for Life 2024 is the first artificial intelligence competition held at VKU, marking an important first step in the journey of developing the AI ​​field at the university. It acts as not only a creative academic playground but also VKU’s pioneering spirit in technology-related activities, especially artificial intelligence. With the mission of being at the forefront of training, researching and applying advanced technologies, VKU always encourages students to promote their creativity and propose breakthrough solutions to solve practical problems. We believe that the success of this competition will be a solid foundation to inspire the passion for research and creativity among students, affirming VKU’s position not only in the field of artificial intelligence but also on the global education and technology map.

As a companion of the contest, we hope and encourage students to realize their big ideas, contributing to creating meaningful solutions in the future.

Danang AI for Life was launched and registered from September 30, 2024 to October 30, 2024 with 207 teams (more than 1,000 students) competing in 2 categories: AI for Life – Artificial Intelligence Application Products and AI Challenge – Artificial Intelligence Challenge. After preliminary and semi-final rounds, there were 15 groups of the best topics/products in the “AI for Life” category and 22 teams in the “AI Challenge” category who would enter the final round held on December 28-29, 2024.

At the Danang AI for Life final round, 15 teams competing in “AI for Life – Artificial Intelligence Application Products” presented proposals for solutions and products applying artificial intelligence in production, business, transportation, finance, healthcare, education, tourism, agriculture and other fields to serve the social community through the application of technologies and techniques of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision, Data Analysis, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, … such as Text-To-Speech, Speech-To-Text, Sentiment Analysis, Topic Modelling, Chatbot, Text Classification, Image Recognition, Voice Recognition, Image Classification, Event Detection, Self-driving Car, DataWarehouse, DataLake, Data Lakehouse, Data Ingestion, Data Visualisation, TimeSeries Data Analysis, Linear Regression, Reporting, … and many other artificial intelligence technologies in various fields. On the other hand, the “AI Challenge – Artificial Intelligence Challenge” competition with the theme of Artificial Intelligence in the financial field (AI in Fintech) was organized in the form of a Hackathon for 8 consecutive hours, during which the teams used the software, tools, models, artificial intelligence solutions, … proposed and built by themselves to solve the problems. They took on-site competition with the tasks of generating ideas, building solutions and presenting products.

The panel of judges was made up of experts from prestigious universities and enterprises in the field of AI such as Kyunghee University (Korea), FPT Software Central, KMS Technology Vietnam, Enosta Group, Nal Solutions, Napa Global and VKU.

The results of the final round will be announced by the Organizing Committee at the event to celebrate the 5th anniversary of VKU (on January 2, 2025) and award prizes with a total prize value of up to 100 million VND together with many attractive gifts from sponsors.

The Danang AI for Life 2024 contest is one of the meaningful highlights in the series of activities to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), marking the 22-year journey of history and development.
