LQDOJ Cup Final: The Ultimate Intellectual Playground for High School Students and Programming Enthusiastic students
On November 17, 2024, the final round of the LQDOJ Cup—a thrilling programming competition organized by Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang city, in collaboration with the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Da Nang—was successfully held. This competition serves as a vibrant intellectual platform for young individuals passionate about technology, fostering their programming aspirations and connecting a community of algorithm enthusiastic students.
Overview of the Closing Ceremony of LQDOJ Cup
Attending the LQDOJ Cup final were Mr. Pham Tan Ngoc Thuy – Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training; Dr. Nguyen Long – General Secretary of the Vietnam Association of Information Technology; Assoc.Prof.Dr. People’s Teacher. Ho Si Dam; from the host and organizing units, there were Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of VKU; Dr. Le Thanh Hai – Principal of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang city; representatives from the financial support unit – FPT Software Central Region, members of the Jury, teachers, and 23 outstanding contestants participating in the final round.
Opening Speech by Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of VKU
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the LQDOJ Cup, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of VKU – warmly welcomed the 23 outstanding contestants who qualified for the final round held at VKU. These young talents stood out among hundreds of participants, showcasing their determination and passion for conquering knowledge. Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho emphasized that as a leading public university specializing in in-depth training and research in information technology, communications, and the digital economy, VKU serves not only as an educational institution but also as a source of inspiration and motivation for the ambitious dreams of young individuals. He further stated, “We are committed to supporting academic and intellectual playgrounds, contributing to nurturing talent and fostering a spirit of learning and creativity within the student community. The LQDOJ Cup is a prestigious programming competition designed to provide students with opportunities to engage in creative programming challenges, enhance logical thinking, and develop problem-solving skills. This year’s competition saw the enthusiastic participation of 550 contestants from 63 specialized high schools across the country.
Over the course of 8 weeks, contestants navigated through 9 intense qualifying rounds, including two rounds in the final week. The competition featured nearly 3,200 contests and over 30,000 submissions, fostering a highly competitive and exciting atmosphere. These rounds were conducted on the LQDOJ platform (Le Quy Don Online Judge) – an automated evaluation system innovatively developed by current and former students of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang. After rigorous rounds of competition, the top 23 contestants emerged, earning their places in the final round to showcase their exceptional programming talents.

In the Final Round, the contestants faced difficult programming problems that required creativity and strong thinking skills. The competition took place at VKU, where contestants spent 5 hours working in a modern and fully equipped environment with excellent technological support.

At the closing ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Long, General Secretary of the Vietnam Association of Information Technology, congratulated the 23 contestants for completing the LQDOJ Cup. He praised the competition as a meaningful event, helping students build a strong foundation for bigger contests like the National Excellent Student Competition in IT and the International Olympic Super Cup in December 2024. He emphasized that the LQDOJ Cup not only inspires creativity but also opens up opportunities for students to confidently enter the university environment with leading majors such as Information Technology, Semiconductor Design, Artificial Intelligence and many other advanced technology fields.
The announcement of the results at the closing ceremony
The final results of the LQDOJ Cup were announced at the closing ceremony. Thai Van Gia Kien from Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted won the First Prize, while Nguyen Phu Nhan from Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang, and Nguyen Tri Dai from Hung Yen High School for the Gifted earned Second Prizes. The Third Prizes were awarded to Tran Hai Dang from Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Nghe An; Dang Huy Hau from Thang Long High School for the Gifted, Lam Dong; and Hoang Minh Duc from Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Nam Dinh. Additionally, there were 08 Consolation Prizes. The Organizing Committee also presented awards for the Mirror board, with the First Prize going to Tu Hoang Anh from Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, Binh Dinh, the Second Prize to Nguyen Phu Trong from Nguyen Tat Thanh High School for the Gifted, Kon Tum, and the Third Prize to Vu Khoi Nguyen from Hung Yen High School for the Gifted.
Cooperation agreement signing between Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology and Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang
During the LQDOJ Cup final, a cooperation agreement was signed between VKU and Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang to promote the development of technology talents. This cooperation demonstrates the commitment to promoting technology education and supporting the young generation to develop skills to be ready to participate in the 4.0 industry.
