Signing Cooperation Agreement with Kyung Hee – A Prestigious University in Korea
Within the framework of the ODA project funded by KOICA, a business trip to work, connect, and develop cooperation with Korean partners took place on the afternoon of May 27, 2024. The delegation from the University of Danang (UD) and the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), UD, had a working session and signed a memorandum of cooperation with Kyung Hee University, a prestigious university in Korea.

The delegation included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, Director of UD, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap, Rector of VKU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Chairman of the Council of VKU, Dr. Tran The Son, Vice-Rector of VKU, representatives from the Department of Science & International Cooperation (DSIC) of UD and the Department of Science, Technology & International Cooperation (DSTIC) of VKU.
Kyung Hee University (KHU) Representatives, Korea, included Prof. Choong Seon Hong, Vice President, and Prof. Jae Sung Kwak, Project Leader, who warmly welcomed the delegation, expressing the Vietnam-Korea friendship.
At the reception and working session, Prof. Choong Seon Hong, Vice President of KHU, expressed his pleasure in welcoming the VKU delegation and shared information about the LINC 3.0 project by the Ministry of Education of Korea with a total budget of about 4 billion won and the participation of 50 Korean universities. KHU has been involved since phase 2, undertaking 30 tasks related to local government policies. KHU currently has 4 centers for startups, employment, and technical development, aiming to enhance cooperation between schools and enterprises, based on the design of Capstone Project Tools, connecting with local governments, and linking student startups. Additionally, KHU connects many projects with the governments of Seoul and Suwon cities, implements startup programs, and runs a Teaching and Learning Support Center to facilitate digital transformation for faculty and students.
Expressing joy from the partnership, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, Director of UD, excitedly shared an overview of UD, highlighting its Development Strategy to 2030 and vision to 2045. He mentioned that UD has received significant attention and investment from the Vietnamese government through the University of Da Nang Urban Area Project, aiming to become one of the top three leading training and scientific research centers in the country, with international prestige and standing.

Given the similarities between the University of Danang and Kyung Hee University, both being major universities in Vietnam and Korea, respectively, and leveraging their existing strengths and potentials, UD and KHU signed an MoU for cooperation in research and training. This includes 2+2 and 3+1 training programs and joint research projects. Concurrently, VKU and KHU signed an MoU to implement ODA project components, 3+1 and 2+2 training programs, and to promote the LINC 3.0 model of school-business cooperation and startup initiatives, as well as a Teaching and Learning Support Center.
Representing VKU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap expressed gratitude for the support from KHU over the past time and hoped that through this MoU, VKU would continue to receive KHU’s assistance in training doctoral students and transferring advanced technologies in education and training.
The delegation visited and experienced the new technology labs at Kyung Hee University, Korea.
Concluding the working session, KHU introduced the delegation to their modern AR and VR technology labs for a tour and hands-on experience.
