VKU Delegation Attends and Delivers Speech at K-Unicorn Global Conference 2024

On November 28, 2024, the K-Unicorn Global Conference 2024 took place in Vietnam. The delegation from Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang, was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector. Accompanying him were Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector and Head of the Department of Science, Technology, and International Cooperation, Dean of Faculty of Economics and E-Commerce, and VKU’s students. The delegation was invited and sponsored to attend the event, where they delivered an important speech. The conference brought together over 500 delegates, including representatives from startups, major corporations, and startup support organizations from Korea, Vietnam, and other countries. It aimed to promote the startup ecosystem and foster the development of technology “unicorns.”

The K-Unicorn Global Conference 2024 was a vital platform for connecting startups, investors, and educational institutions, helping bridge the gap between the Vietnamese and Korean startup ecosystems. With participation from hundreds of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and more than 50 speakers, the conference provided an environment for networking, sharing experiences, and advancing innovative ideas.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap Speaks at K-Unicorn Global Conference 2024

In his address, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap highlighted the significance of Vietnam-Korea collaboration in fostering startups and innovation. He also introduced VKU as a premier university excelling in digital technology, communications, and the digital economy. With high enrollment standards, VKU is ready to supply high-quality human resources to meet the demands of both nations.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap also shared VKU’s contributions to building a robust startup ecosystem, including:

  • Establishing a Startup Incubator at VKU, a pioneering initiative in Central Vietnam.
  • Hosting the Program: Incubation of Start-up and Innovation Ideas (PISI) since 2015.
  • Incorporating startup knowledge into the academic curriculum.
  • Developing a 1,500m² startup connection center as part of an ODA project funded by KOICA (2022–2027), designed to connect businesses and universities to drive innovation and entrepreneurship.

Especially, VKU is committed to training students to meet international standards. A notable achievement is that 100% of VKU’s students complete and defend their graduation theses in English. Additionally, the Korean Engineering program further enhances its ability to meet global workforce demands. Through these efforts, VKU showcases its dedication to supplying quality human resources to support Vietnamese and Korean startups in evolving into technology “unicorns.” The university also reaffirms its commitment to cooperating with Korean enterprises and contributing to the global startup ecosystem.
