Workshop on “Semiconductor Microchip Technology & Industrial Applications” and Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Willas Electronic Vietnam to enhance semiconductor microchip human resources development in line with industrial practices
On the morning of December 18, 2025, the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), Da Nang University in collaboration with technology companies in the semiconductor microchip sector organized the workshop titled “Semiconductor Microchip Technology and Industrial Applications” and concurrently held the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Willas Electronic Vietnam. This event represents a practical academic and collaborative activity, contributing to the realization of the orientation of linking education and training with the practical needs of enterprises, and gradually fostering an ecosystem for the training and development of high-quality human resources for the semiconductor industry in the Central-Central Highlands and the whole country.

Representing the business sector at the program were Mr. Le Quoc Trong – Product Manager of Willas Electronic Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Trong Van – Regional Manager of Gowin Semiconductor, Mr. Truong Ngoc Phu – Founder & Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Onekiwi Company and Mr. Sam Liao – MCU Division Manager of Sonix Technology. Representing VKU were Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector of the university, leaders of faculties, departments, and centers together with a large number of lecturers and students specializing in Computer Engineering Technology.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector of the university emphasized that in the context of the semiconductor industry – where FPGA, artificial intelligence, and microcontrollers are playing an increasingly key role in the global industrial value chain, the demand for high-quality human resources capable of rapidly adapting to technological advancements and real-world working environment has become more urgent than ever. Dr. Tran The Son affirmed that VKU identifies cooperation with enterprises as a strategic pillar in its training activities, extending beyond site visits and internships toward comprehensive collaboration, from curriculum development, expert exchange, technology transfer to research and product development. He stated: “The university consistently regards enterprises as strategic partners who directly participate in the training process. Today’s workshop and the signing of the MoU with Willas Electronic Vietnam clearly demonstrate this commitment, contributing to narrowing the gap between theory and practice while opening up various opportunities for learning, hands-on experience, and employment for VKU students.”

Representing the partner company, Mr. Le Quoc Trong – Product Director of Willas Electronic Vietnam Company expressed his appreciation for VKU’s training orientation and academic environment. He stated that Willas Electronic Vietnam operates in the provision of microcontroller, semiconductor integrated circuit, and industrial application solutions; therefore, the company is particularly interested in establishing long-term cooperation with universities that place a strong emphasis on practical training and applied research. The signing of this cooperation agreement with VKU not only enables the company to gain early access to a young, well-trained workforce, but also creates opportunities for students to engage with the company’s technologies, equipment, and real-world challenges. Willas is committed to accompanying the university in training, research, equipment support, and creating internship and recruitment opportunities for students in the future.

Within the framework of the program, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between VKU and Willas Electronic Vietnam took place solemnly, marking the beginning of a strategic cooperation partnership between the two parties. According to the MoU, the two parties will cooperate in the implementation of training activities, scientific research, and technology transfer; the organization of professional seminars and workshops; the reception of student interns and the prioritization of capable graduates for recruitment; and the enhancement of cooperation in communication and brand development associated with social responsibility.

Immediately following the signing ceremony, representatives of Willas Electronic Vietnam Company donated a Sonix MCU kit to the university, supporting training, research, and hands-on learning for students in the electronics and semiconductor fields. This meaningful activity demonstrates the company’s genuine partnership of the enterprise with VKU in enhancing the quality of training through technology integration and practical equipment.

The workshop also delivered in-depth academic content through presentations by representatives from Gowin Semiconductor on FPGA applications in industry and career opportunities within the semiconductor value chain; Onekiwi on educational solutions in FPGA, AI, MCU, as well as the practical requirements for electronics and semiconductor engineers; and Willas Electronic on an overview of Sonix and MCU applications in the industrial sector. These presentations enabled VKU students to gain a more comprehensive understanding of technology trends, skill requirements, and career development pathways in the semiconductor industry.
The workshop “Semiconductor Microchip Technology and Industrial Applications” concluded in a spirit of collaboration, openness, and optimism, further affirming VKU’s pioneering role in linking training, research, and enterprises, contributing to the development of high-quality human resources to meet the demands of the high-tech sector in the new era.
