Representing the campaign’s Steering Committee, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of VKU, acknowledged, praised, and highly appreciated the pioneering and voluntary spirit of VKU’s youth. Their meaningful programs and activities embodied VKU’s educational philosophy: “Humanity – Dedication – Liberation.” Notably, this year’s campaign highlighted VKU students’ spirit of service, as they applied their classroom knowledge of technology to real-life community support. Specific actions included guiding local residents in accessing online public administrative services, training rural youth in the use of AI and IT, and digitizing cultural and historical heritage data. These efforts clearly demonstrated VKU’s practice-oriented education strategy, helping students gain valuable real-world experience, reinforce a sense of community service, and leave lasting impressions on both volunteers and residents of Que Son Trung Commune.
The Volunteer Student Campaign in the summer in 2025 attracted over 500 VKU student union members, focusing on two main programs: On-site Volunteering and the Green Summer 2025 Campaign – A Journey of contribution and growth. The campaign was thoroughly prepared with necessary supplies, equipment, and skill training to ensure maximum success and effectiveness.

Community Support Program in Que Son Trung Commune
At the Volunteer Student Campaign “Green Summer 2025” (from July 12 to July 19, 2025) in Que Son Trung Commune, Da Nang City, classroom knowledge was “transferred” into life. Students learned from reality through experience, sharing, and even sweat under the rural sun and wind. More than 50 passionate VKU student volunteers implemented numerous activities:
- Cleaning, mowing the grass, lighting candles, and offering incense to pay tribute and remember the heroic martyrs—those who made great contributions in the fight to protect the Fatherland at Hoa Quy and Que Son Trung Cemeteries, as a silent expression of gratitude and a promise made by today’s youth.
- In collaboration with Swim Vietnam, a Drowning Prevention and Rescue Training Program for 2025 was organized for over 200 local primary and lower secondary school students. The program focused on providing essential knowledge and skills such as recognizing drowning risks, preventive measures when playing near rivers, streams, and lakes, safe rescue techniques, and basic first aid procedures like artificial respiration and chest compressions. The practical session offered engaging simulations to help students practice handling real-life emergency scenarios. Additionally, 10 life jackets and 5 rescue poles were presented to the students.
- A teambuilding event themed “Vibrant Summer – Connecting to Reach New Heights” was held with the participation of over 250 youth union members. The journey consisted of five challenge stages: Getting to know each other – Warm-up – Overcoming Obstacles – Acceleration – Finish Line. Each stage was an emotional station featuring a variety of physical and team-based interactive games that required teamwork, agility, quick thinking, and seamless coordination among members. Notably, activities such as code-breaking and a series of consecutive games provided participants with unforgettable experiences that were both thrilling and exciting.
- In collaboration with local youth, support was provided for the construction of a 100-square-meter concrete foundation for a volleyball court, aiming to create a recreational sports area and a communal gathering space for local residents.
- Evening training sessions on information technology skills and the application of AI in Youth Union work and youth movements were conducted at Que Thuan Secondary School. The program aimed to help local teenagers become familiar with and apply artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Studio, NotebookLM, Canva, CapCut, Gamma AI, and more, in familiar areas such as studying, working, and especially in local Youth Union and Association activities.
- Research and digitization efforts were carried out for historical and cultural heritage sites in Que Son Trung Commune, including the Cho Dang Massacre Site, the Revolutionary Site of Ba Le Thi Suu, and the Memorial House of Doctor Phan Quang.
- In collaboration with Head Honda Tien Thu – Tien Duc, a training program on traffic safety knowledge and safe driving skills was organized for over 200 local youth union members. The program aimed to raise awareness and educate young people on the importance of traffic safety, enhance their knowledge and sense of responsibility in complying with road traffic laws, and contribute to reducing violations and accidents. It also equipped participants with practical skills for safe and effective driving, as well as the ability to handle unexpected situations on the road, helping them better understand their roles and responsibilities as traffic participants.
- Thirty gift packages were shared and presented to underprivileged yet high-achieving students in Que Son Trung commune. Though modest in value, these gifts carried the heartfelt care and affection of the university students for their beloved younger peers.
A special highlight of the 2025 Green Summer Campaign was the “Digital Bridge” initiative, which connected technology with the daily lives of local residents. Over the course of five days, more than 10 VKU student volunteers worked continuously at the Public Administrative Service Center of Que Son Trung Commune, providing support and guidance to help residents become familiar with and access online administrative services more easily. This initiative helped reduce traditional barriers, offering greater convenience, saving time, and improving the quality of public service delivery.

But the more I participated, the more confident and fulfilled I felt. The words of thanks and the satisfied smiles of the people were the motivation that kept us striving each day. I also realized that with the technological knowledge we’ve gained at university, if conveyed in the right way, we can truly bridge the gap between citizens and public services.”
