VKU: Welcoming the Consulate General of Japan in Danang
On the afternoon of October 18, 2023, Rector of Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), The University of Danang – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap had a meeting with Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori – Consul General of Japan in Da Nang for his visiting and working. The meeting welcomes Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Phuong – Director of NiX Education Joint Stock Company, and representatives of leaders of the university’s departments and committees.
Overview of the meeting between the Consul General of Japan in Da Nang and the university’s leaders
At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap was pleased to welcome the Consul General of Japan in Da Nang to visit and work at VKU. On this occasion, on behalf of the University’s leadership, Assoc. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap sent his deep thanks to the Government, Japanese organizations and businesses for their interest and support to the university in cooperating in training and recruiting students in recent times. VKU always clearly defines its mission and responsibility in training, providing high – quality human resources, scientific research, knowledge and technology transfer, with the vision of becoming Vietnam’s leading university. The whole country shares the same desire to reach an international level in the fields of training and research; to operate according to an advanced administration model, to be a modern and smart university. With the strength of being a university specializing in Information Technology with more than 6,000 students and 1,500 targeted enrollment every year. This is a high – quality information technology human resource that meets today’s human resource needs. Currently, VKU has been cooperating with many Japanese partners to organize training courses in Information Technology to enhance Japanese language, in which the Information Technology Engineer classes taught by Japanese language in cooperation with NiX Education has achieved many outstanding results after 1 year, the program has had 11 students selected by Japanese businesses for internships and paid part-time jobs (including NecScat, iYell, IMPL-Japan). Students completely communicate in Japanese language with the company through chat software to solve tasks. All students of the first course (21JIT) are highly appreciated in many aspects such as the ability to use Japanese language at work, problem solving skills, and proactive communication. It can be said that this is an effective training cooperation model between VKU, NiX Education and Japanese businesses and can be replicated in the future.

In addition, VKU is also one of three universities assigned by Da Nang City to train semiconductor IT human resources. Therefore, VKU has been actively and proactively implementing program development and enrollment – specialized training in Semiconductor IC Design with the companionship and support from domestic and foreign businesses, building research and training Lab. VKU considers this as a great opportunity to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Japanese Government, organizations and businesses, to support the University in improving the quality of human resources and building a multi – languages and multi – cultures environment, to create opportunities for learners in approaching multinational corporations, to expand the network of cooperative relationships with many domestic and foreign corporations and businesses aiming to provide high – quality human resources for these markets in the future, while also looking for scholarships and internships for students, as well as projects to promote the development of creative startups among students.

Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori – Consul General of Japan in Da Nang thanked Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap and the leaders of the university’s departments and committees for the welcoming and expressed his joy when visiting and working here. Thereby introducing outstanding activities of the Japanese Government in Vietnam in general and in Da Nang City in particular. With the high demand for specialized information technology human resources which is being lacked currently, we believe and realize that VKU will be a place to train and provide IT human resources for domestic and foreign markets, especially is in Da Nang City, where many Japanese businesses want to come and cooperate to expand their activities in the IT field. We will encourage many large businesses and corporations, including many units specializing in the field of IC design to come to VKU to strengthen cooperation in training IT human resources, Semiconductor IC Design. We hope that with our introduction, Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular will soon become a bright spot attracting investment and turn to a center for training high – quality IT human resources for domestic and international markets.
At the end of the visit, the university’s leaders appreciated and showed the readiness to expand cooperation creating the best conditions for Japanese businesses in approaching, giving orientation and accompanying with VKU in training and scientific research activities, recruiting students for internships and jobs, increasing the friendship between the two countries Vietnam and Japan.
