On the morning of February 28, 2023, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), Danang University worked and discussed cooperation with Mixel Vietnam to train and develop human resources for semiconductors, contributing to providing high-quality human resources for Danang City and the whole nation.

Overview of the meeting

Attending the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Bao Anh – Chairman and General Director and Ms. Pham Thi Minh Thuy – Director of Human Resources, on behalf of Mixel; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU, along with leaders of Departments, Faculties, and Centers of the university.

Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector welcomed Mixel Vietnam to visit and work at VKU.

Established in 2020, with an annual enrollment target of 1,500 and an average entrance score of 24 points for 14 majors in the fields of information technology, communications and digital economy, VKU now has nearly 7,000 students and aims to reach 8,000 – 9,000 undergraduate and graduate students by 2025. The number of current teaching staff reaches over 250, with nearly 70 associate professors and doctors accounting for nearly 41%. In addition, VKU has focused on connecting and building a network of over 200 strategic partners including domestic and international organizations and businesses participating in the training process, job recruitment, and sponsorship. The school is also implementing training cooperation programs such as bilingual global programs in English, Japanese, Korean, and so on. VKU also deploys diverse activities, events, international academic-cultural exchange programs, practical projects, internships, business cooperation, programs taught in English, with 100% of the student’s graduation thesis written in English.

With the mission of a leading public university and a key supplier of high-tech human resources for the whole country and Da Nang city, VKU has pioneered in announcing the enrollment and training of Semiconductor Design Engineers from 2023 and has successfully enrolled 70 students of the first Semiconductor Design course with an entrance score of 27 points or higher, which is among the highest in the country. At the same time, VKU has also converted nearly 150 students of Computer Engineering Technology to Semiconductor Design, bringing the total number of Semiconductor Design students currently being trained here at this school to nearly 300. VKU hopes that this will be a source of high-quality human resources contributing to the development of Da Nang city in particular and the global market in general.

As a representative from Mixel, Mr. Nguyen Bao Anh – Chairman and General Director of Mixel Vietnam thanked VKU for the thoughtful welcome and said that Mixel Group was established in 1998, headquartered in Silicon Valley and has branches in the US, Egypt, and Vietnam. It is a leading provider of Mixed-Signal intellectual property (IP), with a diverse product portfolio, focusing on high-performance connectivity solutions. In particular, Mixel Vietnam was newly established in 2024, gathering a team of experienced engineers and experts, specializing in developing mixed-signal semiconductor IPs, serving mobile, display, camera, automotive, VR/AR and AI applications.

Also on this occasion, the representatives of Mixel Vietnam expressed their deep interest in the potential for developing semiconductor human resources at VKU. Mixel highly appreciates the role of VKU in training high-quality human resources in this field and hopes to cooperate with VKU to develop specialized training programs and expand activities connecting students to participate in internships, practice, and participate in projects at Mixel.

The working section between VKU and Mixel has opened up many prospects for cooperation in training semiconductor microprocessor human resources, creating opportunities for VKU’s students to access advanced technologies and to practice and work in an international environment which can facilitate the development of this industry in Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular.
