VKU students shine with confidence and talent at the 33rd Vietnam Student Olympiad in Informatics (OLP’24)
The 33rd Vietnam Student Olympiad in Informatics (OLP’24), Procon Vietnam, and ICPC Asia Hanoi 2024 marked the largest competition to date, bringing together over 700 contestants and 180 coaches from 116 universities, colleges, and institutes across Vietnam, as well as international participants from Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand.

At OLP’24, despite this being only their fifth time competing in this prestigious event, VKU’s student team performed exceptionally well and achieved impressive results. These accomplishments have further affirmed the reputation and quality of the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU) in particular and the University of Danang in general. Once again, the names of VKU’s outstanding students were proudly announced in prominent positions on the competition’s awards list. Notably, 8 out of 9 team members secured awards, with specific achievements as follows:
+ Third Prize in Open-Source Software Development (Team Category): Achieved by Le Kim Hoang Trung (21GIT), Nguyen Hoan Thien (21GIT), and Ho Sy Bao Nhan (22GIT).

+ Two Third Prizes in the Super Cup (Individual Category): Awarded to Le Tang Phu Quy (22GIT) and Nguyen Tran Huy Vu (22SE1). This category is one of the most challenging in the Olympiad, and it marks the first time VKU students have earned awards in this division.

+ One Third Prize in Informatics Major (Individual Category): Secured by Nguyen Hoang Minh Nguyen (23AI) and two Consolation Prizes in Informatics Major (Individual Category): Awarded to Nguyen Van Phung (23AI) and Vo Thanh Nam (23ITB).

The Vietnam Student Olympiad in Informatics is an annual competition organized by the Vietnam Informatics Association, the Vietnam Student Association, and the Ministry of Education and Training. It aims to foster a passion for informatics and encourage young talent in the field. With the patronage of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the competition has expanded in scale and quality each year.
OLP’24, Procon, and ICPC Asia Hanoi 2024 brought together over 700 IT students and 150 coaches from 87 universities, colleges, and institutes nationwide, alongside 20 teams with 60 students from renowned universities in Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand. Specifically, 524 students competed across five Olympiad categories, Procon, and 411 students (137 teams) participated in the ICPC Asia Hanoi 2024, including 20 international teams from four Asian countries. The total number of participating teams reached nearly 228, competing for both individual and team honors.
VKU’s accomplishments at OLP’24 not only reflect the pride of the university but also highlight the confidence, determination, and resilience of VKU students in overcoming significant challenges. These achievements serve as a meaningful gift commemorating VKU’s 5th anniversary, while also providing powerful motivation for the university to continue striving for excellence and expanding its presence in higher education both in Vietnam and the region.
