VKU Students Shine at the Honor Ceremony of the University of Danang for Top Admitted Students and Student Support Program in 2024
On the evening of October 21, 2024, the University of Danang (UD) held the Honor Ceremony for Top Admitted Students. and Student Support Program in 2024. This event aimed to honor the top incoming students from member universities, units under UD, and to commend students who achieved outstanding academic and training results in the 2023-2024 academic year. This year’s ceremony also holds special significance as part of the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of UD’s founding (1994-2024).

In 2024, VKU continued to enjoy a successful recruitment season, ranking among the top universities in Vietnam with high admission scores, the highest in the Central – Central Highlands. The admission scores consistently increased compared to previous years across all 16 recruitment codes of the school. For admission based on high school transcripts, the scores ranged from 24 to 27; for admission based on entrance exam scores, the range was from 22 to 27. The average admission score for 2024 was 24, up by 6.0 points from 2020 (the first year of recruitment, with an average score of ~18). Notably, nearly 30% of students were directly recruited into the school, totaling 466 out of 1,521 students, bringing the total student enrollment to nearly 7,000.
Additionally, in the 2023-2024 academic year, VKU led in recruitment, training, and research in strategic fields such as semiconductor microchips, artificial intelligence, financial technology, and logistics. These areas are crucial for the development of Danang City, with a vision towards 2030 and 2045, particularly focusing on establishing a semiconductor microchip center, an artificial intelligence center, and a regional international financial center. The school also achieved several noteworthy accomplishments over the past academic year, successfully enrolling in the microchip design program with an admission score of 27, which ranks among the highest in the country, launching new programs and establishing the Fintech Hub, providing international-standard master’s training in information technology, and organizing numerous international student exchange programs, with over 70 students receiving internship sponsorships in Thailand, South Korea, and Japan. VKU initiated and hosted various international activities such as the ASEAN Consortium for Innovation and Research (ACIR), the 1st ACIR+ Workshop of Research and Innovation for Students (AWRIS 2024), International Conference On Information Technology and Its Applications (CITA 2024), Central Highlands – Central Vietnam Informatics Olympiad, as well as many national cybersecurity competitions.

Student Le Thanh Tan from Class 24IT1, majoring in Information Technology (Engineering), is honored as the Top Admitted Students and receiving a commemorative medal along with a reward of 10 million VND
Among them,
- Le Thanh Tan (a former student of Nong Son High School, Quang Nam Province) achieved an admission scholarship score of 29.33. As a student in Class 24IT1, majoring in Information Technology (Engineering), he was honored as the Top Admitted Students and awarded a commemorative medal, along with a reward of 10 million VND.”
- Among the recognized students were Le Dao Minh Nhat (Class 22JIT, majoring in Software Engineering – Bilingual Japanese-Vietnamese); Tran Thi Linh Hue (Class 22DM, majoring in Digital Marketing); and Le Thi Khanh Dung (Class 20NS, majoring in Information Security and Computer Networks), all of whom were acknowledged as exemplary students for the 2023-2024 academic year and awarded certificates of merit from the Director of the University of Danang along with a reward of 3 million VND each.
- Five students received the 2024 UD’s Student Support Scholarships, each valued at 5 million VND.
Previously, at the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 academic year, VKU also recognized and awarded several valuable scholarships to top admitted students (45 million VND), second-best admitted students (30 million VND), third-best admitted students (22.5 million VND), and the top 10 outstanding students with high admission scores in 2024 (15 million VND each). Scholarships were also awarded to exemplary students from the 2023-2024 academic year (2 million VND each) and hardship scholarships for 29 new students (2 million VND each), along with many scholarships for new students excelling in the Central Highlands – Central Vietnam Informatics Olympiad organized annually by VKU and for outstanding students in Financial Technology, with a total value exceeding 400 million VND from the school’s budget, the University of Danang, and sponsorship from domestic and international enterprises.
