VKU: Students majoring in Computer and Electronics Engineering won the runner-up prize in the GBA Business Challenge 2023 – [Team AgroWise]
The wonderful combination between students of Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU) and students of the University of Economics (DUE) has created excellent achievements with the runner-up prize (total prize value is 90 million VND) at the GBA Business Challenge 2023 held on November 6, 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The team of VKU and DUE students excellently won the runner-up prize.
This is the third consecutive year that the VKU student team has reached the final round of the GBA Business Challenge. The two students Le Van Hung and Nguyen Hoang Huy (20CE), Faculty of Computer and Electronics Engineering (VKU) belonging to Team AgroWise in corporation with DUE students successfully implemented the AgroWise project. This is a technology project providing farmers with innovative and sustainable solutions through an IoT system that can accurately measure temperature and humidity as well as detect motion in agriculture.
The success is the result of dedication, efforts and talent of the AgrowWise team members. Through the GBA 2023 competition, VKU students have demonstrated not only their excellence in embedded programming, IoT, chip and microchip but also their ability to handle global business challenges in Industry 4.0.

Nguyen Vu Anh Quang – Head, Faculty of Computer and Electronics Engineering (VKU) happily said: VKU students are currently receiving practice-oriented training associated with startup and innovation to solve major problems of social practical needs. In addition, right from the first two years, our students are also equipped with expertise in embedded programming, hardware design, chip technology, automatic control, especially embedded and IoT applications for smart cities, smart homes, mobile devices, cars, self-driving vehicles, etc. to access technology early. What’s more, during the training process, students are provided with access to real projects at businesses, which helps them quickly improve themselves and approach the real needs of society.
AgroWise product model is an information technology project providing farmers with innovative and sustainable solutions through an IoT system that can accurately measure temperature and humidity as well as detect motion in agriculture.
Launched in 2020, the GBA Business Challenge aims to support local young talents with promising and forward-thinking ideas to transform their visions into viable businesses. The competition provides participants with startup tools, real-life business experience and a starting fund. The first three seasons were very successful and attracted more than 200 diverse business ideas with the potential to positively impact society, the environment and people in the long term.
The GBA 2023 competition theme focused on addressing issues related to social, environmental or sustainable development. Out of 50 startups that underwent a rigorous 6-month training and evaluation process, 05 teams from various universities across Vietnam reached the top ranks of the competition. These teams presented their innovative solutions for the prize of 350 million VND and a 12-month coaching program. The coaching program is facilitated by experienced leaders and experts from the German business community in Vietnam.
