VKU: Student Scientific Research Conference for the academic year 2023-2024 – Many outstanding studies are closely associated with practical applications
To promote the scientific research activities among students and create a useful playground to foster their passion for scientific research and creativity, contributing to the improvement of learning quality, on June 17, 2024, the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology – University of Da Nang (UD-VKU) organized the Student Scientific Research Conference for the academic year 2023-2024.
An overview of the Student Scientific Research Conference for the 2023-2024 academic year
In attendance were Assoc.Prof.PhD. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Chair, VKU’s Council; Vice Rectors: PhD. Tran The Son, PhD. Huynh Ngoc Tho; representatives of the school’s departments and faculties; representatives from enterprises such as NAL Solutions, Synopsys, and Da Nang Institute for Socio – Economic Development (DISED), as well as lecturers and students participating in scientific research at this year’s conference.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Vice-Rector PhD. Tran The Son acknowledged and praised the scientific research spirit of the students and the dedication of the instructors. He also affirmed that the university is committed to creating favorable conditions for students to participate in scientific research. These activities aim to discover and nurture talented individuals, thereby contributing to the development of research products with practical applications for the community and society.

According to the summary report for the student scientific conference 2023-2024 academic year, there were 52 registered projects, representing an increase of 23.1% compared to the 2022-2023 academic year. Of these, 24 projects were approved with satisfactory results, marking an increase of 64.7% compared to the previous academic year. 11 outstanding projects were selected to be presented and evaluated by the acceptance committee at the University-Level Student Scientific Research Conference. 6 projects had scientific papers published in international conferences and domestic journals. All of the projects focused on research areas relevant to their respective majors, featuring meaningful scientific themes that are timely, closely aligned with real-world issues, and highly applicable across various fields such as aviation, hospitality, communication, tourism, medicine, agriculture, industry, transportation, security, and education. Notably, some projects were written and presented entirely in English.

At the closing of the conference, the acceptance committee selected and awarded the outstanding research groups with 03 First Prizes, 04 Second Prizes, 04 Third Prizes, and 13 certificates for completing university-level scientific research.
During the discussion session and conference summary, Vice Rector PhD. Tran The Son provided some general assessments of the students’ scientific research activities. There has been progress in both quantity and quality, with projects built on more comprehensive and broader knowledge. Students have invested and focused on the factors necessary to construct truly practical research works. Notably, first and second-year students could confidently and fluently present before the council, which is a positive sign that stimulates creativity and exploration of new technologies in society.
With the orientation to build the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology into a prestigious university for education, research, and technology transfer in the field of IT and related areas following the higher education model, emphasizing the promotion of scientific research activities among students is considered one of the key tasks of the VKU.
