Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Chairman of the University Council; Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector; along with representatives of faculty and department leadership from the university. Also present were members of the judging panel and evaluation committee from enterprises, including Dr. Bui Ngoc Nhu Nguyet – Vice Director of the Institute for Socio-Economic Development Research of Da Nang City; Dr. Dang Ba Khac Trieu – Branch Manager of Da Nang – NTT e-MOI., JSC; and Dr. Tran Thanh – CEO of GFG Technology, Trade and Services JSC. The conference also welcomed supervising lecturers and students who conducted and presented their scientific research projects.

Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector of VKU, delivered the opening speech

In his opening speech, Dr. Tran The Son, Vice Rector of the university, acknowledged and commended the students’ dedication to scientific research as well as the commitment and professionalism of their academic supervisors. He emphasized that the university always prioritizes and creates favorable conditions for students to engage in research activities within the university environment. This aims to identify and nurture individuals with strong research potential, thereby contributing to the creation of practical and applicable research products for the community and society.

According to the summary report on the student scientific research activities for the academic year 2024–2025, this year saw a total of 70 research topics registered—an increase of 45.83% compared to the 2023–2024 academic year. Of these, 65 topics were officially assigned, and 38 were successfully evaluated with results rated “Pass” or higher—a growth of 39.29% from the previous year. Among them, 17 outstanding research topics were selected to be presented and defended before a panel of experts at the University-level Student Scientific Research Conference. 11 research projects resulted in scientific papers published in both international conferences—such as CITA 2025, ACIID 2025, ICIIT 2025, EAI GoodTechs 2024, and ATC2 2024—and domestic and international journals, including the International Research Journal of Modernization in Engineering Technology and Science, Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics, Vietnam Economic Forecasting Review, Ha Long University Journal of Science, and Development and Integration Journal. The research topics for 2024–2025 spanned a wide range of fields, showcasing the diversity and high applicability of students’ academic thinking. Notably, many projects focused on artificial intelligence and deep learning, with applications in image processing, language understanding, voice recognition, biomedical data analysis, and information security. In addition, a group of projects in computer engineering and semiconductor design centered on developing advanced hardware solutions, such as processors, embedded systems, and smart sensors. Topics in data analytics, economic and social forecasting, and modeling also received attention, reflecting a strong link between technology and management. Furthermore, students explored practical themes in consumer behavior, digital marketing, e-commerce, virtual reality applications, website design, and topics related to education and digital learning experiences. Together, these projects painted a comprehensive picture of VKU students’ ability to approach real-world issues through scientific research. Notably, several research projects were written and presented entirely in English, reflecting the students’ growing confidence and readiness for international academic engagement.

The Top 3 Teams Awarded First Prize

At the closing of the conference, the evaluation committee selected and decided to present awards to outstanding research teams, including: 03 First Prizes, 06 Second Prizes, 08 Third Prizes, and 38 projects awarded Certificates of Completion for university-level scientific research.

During the discussion and closing session of the conference, Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector – shared several general assessments of the student scientific research activities at the university.  He noted positive progress in both quantity and quality of the projects. The research topics have become more comprehensive, with better-structured theoretical foundations and broader scope. Students have shown greater investment and attention to key elements in developing meaningful and highly practical research works.

The 2024–2025 VKU Student Scientific Research Conference is not only a platform to honor students’ creative ideas and academic efforts, but also a vivid testament to their spirit of innovation, proactive integration, and aspiration for knowledge. The research projects are highly practical, with many scientific papers published both domestically and internationally. The confident presentations, even from first-year students, highlight the immense potential being unlocked within the university. With a strategic vision to become a prestigious institution in research and technology transfer, VKU remains committed to supporting, investing in, and inspiring scientific research, not just as a student movement, but as a core part of each student’s DNA. It is this foundation that will lead to the creation of groundbreaking intellectual products serving both the community and the nation.
