VKU ready to join Da Nang City in giving an impressive and professional welcome to international student teams at VIMC 2025

On the afternoon of August 13, 2025, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi – Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People’s Committee and Head of the Steering Committee for the Vietnam International Mathematics Competition 2025 (VIMC) – chaired a meeting to review the entire preparation process for the competition at Vietnam–Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang. Attending the meeting were Mrs. Le Thi Bich Thuan – Director of the Department of Education and Training, representatives of the leadership from the Departments of Education and Training, Foreign Affairs, Health, and IEG Global, among others. Representing VKU, the main hosting venue, were Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, Vice Rector of the University, along with leaders of the university’s functional units.

In his report at the meeting, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of VKU – stated that the university has proactively and actively coordinated with relevant departments, sectors, and IEG Global to complete preparations for 14 examination rooms (including 2 backup rooms) that meet required standards. Thirty-six faculty members have been assigned as invigilators and secretaries of the examination board, while 80 student volunteers have been recruited and trained to support international delegations. The university has arranged 110 dormitory rooms to accommodate nearly 400 teachers and students, ensuring all necessary conditions. Dedicated working rooms have been prepared for the International Committee, along with areas for problem setting and grading, as well as completed venues for the opening and closing ceremonies. A centralized dining area of 1,000 m² has been set up, along with a medical room staffed around the clock in cooperation with functional units. Security and food safety measures have been thoroughly prepared, including special arrangements for accommodation and dining for Muslim contestants. With a spirit of hospitality, responsibility, and professionalism, VKU is determined to work with all relevant units to successfully organize a competition that leaves a strong Vietnam–Da Nang imprint in the hearts of international friends.

As of now, 29 international teams and 1 Vietnamese team have confirmed participation. The President of the IMC Committee and one committee member have already arrived in Da Nang, along with six delegations from Canada, Peru, Tunisia, Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh, and Uzbekistan. The remaining delegations will arrive gradually from August 14.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi praised, acknowledged, and highly appreciated the efforts of the Department of Education and Training, VKU, IEG Global JSC, and other departments and agencies in preparing for the VIMC 2025 – the first time the competition will be held in Da Nang. She particularly commended VKU, the main host, for its well-equipped, modern facilities and its thoughtful, well-organized arrangements, from examination rooms, accommodations, and conference spaces to dining areas, medical facilities, and security systems – all meeting international standards and providing the best conditions for contestants and teachers.

She emphasized that this is an important competition, contributing to affirming Da Nang’s prestige and position in the international education arena, while also serving as an opportunity to promote the city’s image to friends worldwide. She requested that members of the Steering Committee and relevant units conduct a final thorough review of all preparations, especially the examination rooms, accommodations for contestants and teachers, medical services, food safety, and public order; ensuring the best possible conditions for the competition to be safe, effective, and memorable, leaving a positive impression on contestants, teachers, and international professors.

Immediately after the meeting, the delegation conducted an on-site inspection of all key areas of the competition at VKU, from examination rooms, auditoriums, and dormitories to cultural exchange areas – all demonstrating the determination of Da Nang City and VKU to deliver a professional, well-prepared, and enriching competition experience for international friends.
