VKU promotes strategic cooperation with VNSEMITEST and GOWIN in the field of IC Design
On the morning of March 6, 2025, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang had a working session with representatives of VNSEMITEST and GOWIN to discuss cooperation opportunities in the field of IC Design, opening up a new direction in training and developing high-quality human resources for the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.
Overview of the meeting
Attending the meeting were Dr. Tran The Son, Vice Rector of VKU; Mr. Tony Phong Truong, Director of VNSEMITEST; and Mr. Nguyen Trong Van, Vietnam Representative of GOWIN.
Dr. Tran The Son, Vice Rector of VKU, delivers a Speech
In his remarks, Dr. Tran The Son expressed his pleasure in welcoming the delegation from VNSEMITEST and GOWIN. He introduced VKU as one of Vietnam’s leading institutions in information technology, communications, and economics, with nearly 7,000 students. Notably, VKU has been a pioneer in IC Design Engineering training since 2023, successfully enrolling 70 students in its first cohort with an entrance score of 27 or higher, ranking among the top nationwide. Additionally, VKU has transitioned nearly 150 students from Computer Engineering Technology minor to IC Design minor, bringing the total number of students in this field to nearly 300. The university is actively strengthening partnerships with domestic and international enterprises to enhance training and research quality, aiming to meet the high-demand workforce needs of the semiconductor industry.
Mr. Tony Phong Truong – Director of VNSEMITEST, speaks at the meeting
Representing VNSEMITEST, Mr. Tony Phong Truong expressed gratitude for VKU’s warm reception and shared the company’s vision. Despite being established just over a year ago, VNSEMITEST has rapidly solidified its role in IC testing and design. He emphasized the company’s eagerness to collaborate with VKU by providing student training, expert mentorship, internship programs, and promoting applied research projects. This collaboration aims to equip students with practical technology experience and industry-ready skills.
At the meeting, the parties reached a consensus on several key points, including VNSEMITEST and GOWIN’s support for VKU in developing its IC Design training program. This includes expert guidance from leading professionals in IC design testing. Additionally, GOWIN will introduce suitable FPGA products for teaching, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with advanced technology. The parties also discussed plans to organize a semiconductor competition in Da Nang, aimed at fostering innovation and raising student awareness about this promising industry.
The meeting took place in a spirit of collaboration and openness, marking a significant milestone in the partnership between VKU, VNSEMITEST, and GOWIN. This initiative is expected to bring new development opportunities, enhancing training, research, and workforce development in the semiconductor field both in Central Vietnam and nationwide.
