On March 29, 2025, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang (UD), held a training conference on the self-assessment of training programs according to the AUN-QA standards framework, aiming to improve training quality following regional benchmarks.

Overview of the conference

Attending the conference were Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Dat – Deputy Head of the Training and Education Quality Assurance Department, the University of Danang; MA. Dao Phong Lam – Expert from the Quality Management Center, Can Tho University, who also served as the program’s presenter; on VKU’s side were Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU, Doctor Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of VKU, along with the full leadership team, staff, and lecturers of units under the university.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap expressed gratitude to the experts from the Quality Management Center for dedicating time to participate and present in the program. He shared and highly appreciated the spirit and responsibility of all staff and lecturers in orienting strategic directions in quality assurance work. He affirmed that enhancing the capacity for self-assessment of training programs according to AUN-QA standards is an essential preparatory step to meet the demands of higher education reform and progress towards international accreditation standards.

At the training session, expert presenters provided in-depth, practical, and systematic knowledge on the process of building self-assessment reports, methods for collecting and encoding evidence, along with guidance on standardizing learning outcomes and detailed program outlines according to AUN-QA standards. The highlight of the training was the practical writing of reports based on specific criteria within the AUN-QA standards, facilitating the university’s staff and lecturers to strengthen their skills while creating a space for discussion, experience sharing, and troubleshooting difficulties encountered during actual implementation in respective units.

The training program not only equipped participants with comprehensive professional knowledge but also inspired VKU’s staff and lecturers to proactively renew their mindset and approaches in the self-assessment of training programs. This is a significant step demonstrating VKU’s determination to build an education environment that meets regional standards and international integration, while affirming its pioneering role in Vietnam’s higher education system in ensuring and enhancing training quality.

With a solid knowledge foundation and a professional, proactive spirit, VKU is ready to steadily advance on the journey towards international accreditation standards, with the immediate goal of conquering the AUN-QA standards – opening the strategic vision: “VKU – Digital Technology University, high quality, reaching regional stature.”
