VKU: Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Winter Camp for Outstanding High School Students in Informatics from the Central – Central Highlands

On the morning of November 14, 2024, the Opening ceremony of the 2024 Winter Camp for Outstanding High School Students in Informatics from the Central – Central Highlands was held at Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang. This is the first time VKU has hosted the Winter Camp in collaboration with Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted in Danang.

Overview of the Opening Ceremony

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Organizing Committee of the 2024 Informatics Winter Camp, as well as teachers and nearly 100 students from gifted informatics teams from high schools and high schools for gifted in the Central – Central Highlands, including: Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Da Nang), Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted, Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted (Quang Nam), Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Binh Dinh), Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted (Quang Binh), Le Khiet High School for the Gifted (Quang Ngai), Thang Long High School for the Gifted (Lam Dong), Chi Lang High School (Gia Lai), Nguyen Tat Thanh High School for the Gifted (Kon Tum), Nguyen Chi Thanh High School for the Gifted (Dak Nong), and Hung Yen High School for the Gifted (Hung Yen).

In his opening speech, Dr. Nguyen Quang Vu, Head of the Department of Academic Affairs and representative of the Organizing Committee, expressed his pleasure in welcoming the teachers and students from high schools and high schools for the Gifted in the Central – Central Highlands. He highlighted VKU’s clear mission and responsibility in training high-quality human resources, promoting scientific research, and transferring knowledge and technology. VKU aims to become a leading university nationally and internationally in education and research. Operating with an advanced governance model, VKU strives to build a modern and intelligent learning environment. As a university specializing in information technology, communications, and digital economy, with nearly 7,000 students and approximately 1,500 new enrollments annually, VKU contributes to supplying high-quality human resources for both domestic and international markets. Following the success of the Informatics Summer Camps held from 2016 to 2023, the 2024 Winter Camp for Outstanding High School Students in Informatics from the Central – Central Highlands will provide a platform for students to enhance their knowledge under the guidance of experts from Vietnam Informatics Association and ICPC Vietnam, such as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Phan Thuan (Head of the Vietnam IOI Team), Dr. Do Duc Dong (Deputy Head of the Vietnam IOI Team), Le Don Khue (Chair of the ICPC Vietnam Problem Setting Committee), Pham Van Hanh (Vietnam Informatics Association; winner of the Vietnamese Student Informatics Olympiad Super Cup twice), Trinh Huu Gia Phuc (Gold Medalist at the International Olympiad in Informatics – IOI 2019), and Pham Van Thai (Vietnam Informatics Association).

The 2024 Winter Camp for Outstanding High School Students in Informatics from the Central – Central Highlands will take place from November 14 to November 26, 2024. VKU hopes that the 2024 Informatics Winter Camp will bring rich and meaningful experiences for the students. This is an opportunity for them to not only expand their specialized knowledge but also improve practical skills, teamwork spirit, and self-confidence.
