VKU – KMUTNB: Strengthening Strategic Cooperation, Expanding Opportunities for International Integration

On the afternoon of August 11, 2028, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), University of Danang, welcomed a delegation from King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), Thailand. The visit aimed to enhance exchanges and promote strategic cooperation between the two universities.

Overview of the reception and cooperation meeting between VKU and KMUTNB

Attending the meeting from KMUTNB were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pichet Sriyanyong – Vice President for International Affairs, Dr. Thitirat Thawornsujaritkul – Assistant to the President for KMUTNB Rayong Campus, and Ms. Phimvalanch Moosikaphan – Director of the International Cooperation Center. Representing VKU were Vice Presidents Dr. Tran The Son and Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, along with leaders from various departments, faculties, and centers of VKU.

In his welcome remarks, Dr. Tran The Son, Vice President of VKU, expressed his delight in hosting the KMUTNB delegation. He emphasized that the partnership between the two institutions has been growing stronger, creating meaningful opportunities for study, research, and international experiences for both faculty members  and students.

Since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in July 2023, the two universities have carried out many notable cooperation activities. These include leadership-level visits and working sessions to expand strategic collaboration; academic exchange and cultural exchange programs for students and faculty; the organization of international summer camps, scientific conferences, and regional academic forums; sending VKU students to Thailand for internships, research, and participation in international projects; and welcoming KMUTNB students to experience studying at VKU. Programs such as VKU-ISEP, Leadership Camp, Innovator’s DNA Bootcamp, and AWRIS have become signature highlights of the partnership, helping to enhance integration skills, creativity, and scientific research capacity for students of both universities. It is hoped that this visit by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pichet Sriyanyong and the KMUTNB delegation will open up new areas of cooperation, further strengthening the VKU – KMUTNB partnership.

In response, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pichet Sriyanyong, Vice President for International Affairs of KMUTNB, expressed his sincere thanks for the warm welcome from VKU and shared his impression of the university’s achievements in training, research, and international cooperation. He affirmed that KMUTNB is always ready to work closely with VKU to implement practical cooperation programs such as expanding student and faculty exchanges, developing joint training courses, organizing international scientific conferences, and promoting applied research to meet real-world needs.

Sharing at the meeting, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, Vice President of VKU, noted that in recent times, many academic exchange and international cultural exchange activities between the two institutions have demonstrated high quality and credibility. Therefore, in the next stage of development, VKU hopes the two sides will continue to expand cooperation into joint degree programs, co-develop international courses, increase the scale of student exchanges, recognize credits when students from both universities study at KMUTNB or VKU, and carry out more applied research projects to address practical problems in the region and internationally.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed in depth their plans to strengthen cooperation in the coming time, especially focusing on academic and cultural exchange programs, short- and long-term training courses, as well as scientific research cooperation in each university’s areas of strength.

This visit once again reaffirmed the strong bond, shared vision, and commitment of both universities to building a sustainable partnership, contributing to the training of high-quality human resources for global integration.
