As part of the series of events celebrating the 5th anniversary of the establishment of VKU (January 3, 2020 – January 3, 2025): A 22-Year Journey of Formation and Development, on the afternoon of January 2, 2025, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang, organized an awards ceremony to honor students who achieved outstanding results in international and national competitions. Additionally, prizes were awarded to winners of the Danang AI for Life and VKU Startup 2024 competitions. This significant event aims to celebrate and inspire a culture of learning and scientific research among VKU students, with a focus on advancing artificial intelligence (AI) applications, encouraging students to innovate and propose cutting-edge technological solutions to address pressing real-life issues, and fostering technological entrepreneurship projects.

Attending the event from VKU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap (Rector), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh (Chairman of the University Council), and Vice-Rectors Dr. Tran The Son and Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho. International guests included Mr. Hong Jong Pyo (Vice Chairman of Hanwha Life, South Korea), Mr. Hwang Jun Hwan (Chairman and CEO of Hanwha Life Vietnam), and Prof. Dr. Somrerk Chandra-ambhorn (Vice President of King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, Thailand). Other notable attendees included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Thuy (Chairman of FISU Vietnam), Dr. Nguyen Long (Vice President and Secretary General of the Vietnam Informatics Association), and representatives from partner organizations and enterprises, as well as university’s leadership faculty and students.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. 01 Third Prize (National Round) and 01 Second Prize (Central Region) at International Collegiate Programming Contest 2024 were awarded to the team of Le Tang Phu Quy (22GIT), Nguyen Tran Huy Vu (22SE1), and Vo Thanh Phong (22GIT).

01 Third Prize (Central Region) at the International Collegiate Programming Contest 2024 was awarded to the team of Nguyen Hoang Minh Nguyen (23AI), Nguyen Van Phung (23AI), and Vo Thanh Nam (23SE4).

01 Third Prize (Open Source Software Category) at the 2024 Vietnam Student Olympiad in Informatics was awarded to the team of Le Kim Hoang Trung (21GIT), Nguyen Hoan Thien (21GIT), and Ho Sy Bao Nhan (22GIT).

02 Third Prizes (Super Cup Category) at the 2024 Vietnam Student Olympiad in Informatics were awarded to the team of Le Tang Phu Quy (22GIT) and Nguyen Tran Huy Vu (22SE1).

01 Third Prize (Specialized Informatics Category) at the 2024 Vietnam Student Olympiad in Informatics was awarded to Nguyen Hoang Minh Nguyen (23AI).

02 Consolation Prizes (Specialized Informatics Category) at the 2024 Vietnam Student Olympiad in Informatics were awarded to Nguyen Van Phung (23AI) and Vo Thanh Nam (23SE4).

01 Consolation Prize at the ASEAN Student Contest on Information Security organized by the Vietnam Information Security Association was awarded to Le Thi Khanh Dung (20NS), Le Quang Long (20NS), Nguyen Ngoc Mai Phuong (22NS), and Le Dinh Vu (23IC).

01 Consolation Prize at the 2024 ISITDTU International Information Security Competition organized by Duy Tan University was awarded to Pham Minh Tri (21SE1), Le Anh Truong (23ES), Vo Van Bao (22NS), Dang Duc Loc (22NS), and Tran Dinh Hoang Long (23NS2).

01 Second Prize in the 2024 Cybersecurity Incident Response Exercise organized by the Department of Information and Communications of Da Nang City was awarded to Pham Minh Tri (21SE1), Le Anh Truong (23ES), Vo Van Bao (22NS), Dang Duc Loc (22NS), and Pham Hoang Phat (22NS).

01 First Prize at the 2024 LG Dream Code Competition organized by LG Electronics R&D Vietnam was awarded to student Le Tang Phu Quy (22GIT).

01 Second Prize at the 2024 Korean Language Contest organized by the Consulate General of South Korea in Da Nang was awarded to Tran Chanh Tin (21KIT).

At the award ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented prizes to outstanding teams that achieved high results at the AI and Application Competition – AI Living Lab and Challenge (Danang AI for Life 2024) and the VKU Startup Competition. Specifically:

The team Bigfooooot and the team Four Stars excelled, winning First Prize in the two competition categories of the “AI Living Lab and Challenge 2024”.

The results of the Danang AI for Life 2024 competition, which consisted of two categories: AI Challenge Category: 01 First Prize awarded to team Bigfooooot, 01 Second Prize awarded to team Question Mark, 02 Third Prizes awarded to teams G4_eDG and AIO_OLYMPUS, and 05 Consolation Prizes. AI for Life Category: 01 First Prize awarded to team Four Stars, 01 Second Prize awarded to team VKU_KS_05, 02 Third Prizes awarded to teams AI for Real and Baby Monkey, and 5 Consolation Prizes. The total prize value is 100 million VND along with many gifts from sponsors.

The team AIAgingcare won first place at the VKU Startup 2024 competition

VKU Startup competition awarded First Prize to the team AIAgingcare (AIAgingCare – Assistant for the Elderly), Second Prize to the team CloseAI (Application of disease classification on coffee leaves), and Third Prize to the teams G4_eDG, 21AD Talent, Danang Ino, and DanangSpeech. Among them, the five teams AIAgingcare, CloseAI, Team G4_eDG, Danang Ino, and DanangSpeech will continue to participate in the SV_Startup competition held by the Ministry of Education and Training in the near future.

The outstanding achievements of VKU students at national and international competitions clearly demonstrate the quality of education, the dedication of the faculty, and the strategic vision of VKU. This also serves as a strong affirmation of the school’s significant growth in its mission to become a leading center for education, research, and innovation in the region.

The 5th anniversary of the establishment is not only a moment to reflect on the journey so far but also an opportunity for VKU to reaffirm its commitment to building the best learning environment, where students can develop comprehensively, from knowledge to skills and creative thinking. The success of the students is the motivation for VKU to continue striving and contributing to the sustainable development of the country in the digital age.
