VKU exchanged and cooperated with Newcastle University, Australia, aiming to implement international training programs 2+2, 3+1, 1+3
On the afternoon of December 11, 2023, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang had an online working session with Newcastle University (UON), Australia to enhance and expand international cooperation, academic exchange programs, scientific research and implementation of 2+2, 3+1, 1+3 training programs.
Overview of the meeting
Attending the meeting, on the side of Newcastle University, Australia, there was Mr. Bret Sutcliffe – Director of Transnational Education and Cooperation; On the VKU side, there was Assoc. Prof. PhD. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector along with Leaders of Faculties and Departments of the school.
Discussing at the working session, Assoc. Prof. PhD. Huynh Cong Phap – VKU’s Rector expressed his joy and hope that there would be future cooperation between VKU and Newcastle University, Australia. He also shared that VKU is a public university that provides training, scientific research, technology transfer, and startup activities in the fields of information technology, communications, digital economy and related industries. It operates according to an application-oriented university model with a smart and modern environment and advanced management methods, providing high-quality human resources for the process of international integration and the 4.0 Industrial Revolution. Currently, VKU is training 14 majors/minors with a powerful team of lecturers and a student population of 6,000 students, aiming to reach 8,000 students by 2025. VKU provides training programs in the field of information technology and digital economy which consists of many majors that are very suitable for the strengths of Newcastle University such as IT, Logistics, Digital Tourism and Travel, and Digital Marketing. Therefore, VKU wishes to cooperate with Newcastle University in implementing international transfer programs 2+2, 3+1, 1+3, and at the same time carry out academic and research exchange activities among lecturers or students of the two schools.

Mr. Bret Sutcliffe – Representative of Newcastle University, Australia said that: established in 1965, UON is a university possessing a modern learning environment and a leading innovative curriculum in the state of Newsouth Wales, Australia which is about 2 hours drive from Sydney. In spite of being a relatively young university, UON has still built a reputation as a leading prestigious university in Australia ranked equal 173rd in the world according to the 2024 QS World University Rankings and is known by international students around the world for its teaching quality, post-graduate satisfaction and valuable skills development process. Mr. Bret Sutcliffe hoped that the two sides would have many opportunities to cooperate in scientific research, advanced teaching methods access, academic student exchange programs and so on, together bringing practical values to learners and society. In particular, Newcastle University will offer many scholarships, transfer programs, and attractive student exchange programs for VKU students.
