VKU: Closing the official survey to assess university-level training program s quality
On August 15, 2023, the Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Da Nang in collaboration with Center for Education Accreditation – Vietnam National University, Hanoi held the closing ceremony of the official survey to assess university-level training program’s quality according to the Ministry of Education and Training accreditation standards.
Overview of the closing program of the official survey
Attending the ceremony, on the side of the Center for Education Accreditation – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Dinh Van Toan – Deputy Director; On the side of the external assessment team, Prof. Ph.D. Banh Tien Long – Head Team; Dr. To Thi Thu Huong – Secretary; Dr. Nguyen Hoang Oanh – Permanent member; members: Prof. Ph.D. Hoang Ba Thinh, Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Tam, Dr. Vu Viet Binh; Dr. Nguyen Hoang Viet, Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Huynh Cong Phap – Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector; Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector with Self-Assessment Council members, units leaders and all relevant staff, lecturers and students attended.

On behalf of the external assessment team, Prof. Ph.D. Banh Tien Long – Head Team summary reported the training program quality assessment on the criteria, including 03 parts: (1) assessment principle, assessment process; (2) results; (3) identification and recommendations. Experiencing assessment activities, such as: studying evidence records and related documents; interviewing and discussing with relevant inside and outside groups of people; working directly with professional staff in functional units and faculties with assessed training programs; observing teaching-learning activities; surveying opinions of stakeholders; checking and surveying facilities for training programs such as libraries, data rooms, practical rooms, classrooms, training grounds, dormitories, etc. Through the official survey results, the external assessment team highly appreciated the University’s spirit, although it has only been established for more than 3 years, but had seriously and boldly registered to assess the training program quality according to State regulations, highlighting its strengths such as putting English into teaching training programs, as well as graduation thesis in 100% English performed by students, graduates having jobs is very high rate (more than 80% – 100%), being highly appreciated students’ capacity by recruitment enterprises, highly qualified lecturers with a doctorate rate higher than the national average, high admission benchmarks increasing over the years, and the output standards of the training program are clearly built, match with the mission and vision. In addition to strengths, the external assessment team also gives detailed recommendations for each standard and overall recommendation, useful for the University and units to develop a reasonable development strategy and offer solutions to improve the Universitys training program quality in the next period.

On behalf of the University, Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector would like to express his sincere thanks to the Center for Education Accreditation – VUN, a prestigious educational accreditation unit in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, for choosing prestigious, experienced and leading professional members in the country. VKU has only been established for more than 3 years, but has boldly registered to assess training program quality early to build a quality cultural standard in the University. Through official survey results, VKU is very great and satisfied with the comments, assessment and receiving of useful comments and solutions for the University. Although many objective conditions are unfavorable such as newly established unit, affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, with effort and determination, VKU has confidently gradually achieved outstanding results by specific evidences such as high admission benchmarks (from 18 points in 2020 to 24-25 points in 2022), high employment rate of graduates along with positive feedback Universitys training programs quality from alumni and businesses etc. Thereby, it can be seen that VKU is choosing the right direction and affirming with the aspiration to become a leading university on training high-quality human resources in the field of information technology, communication and digital economy in the country and reach the international level.
Concluding speech of the official survey, Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Dinh Van Toan – Deputy Director of the Center for Education Accreditation – VNU recognizes and appreciates the VKU’s efforts and active cooperation in the coordination of providing information, evidence records, preparing and responding to good facilities and infrastructure for the official survey. The dedication, objectivity and professionalism of the external assessment team, along with scientific evaluation methods, ensure correctness of state regulations and working procedures in the study of evidence dossiers, preliminary surveys and official surveys to make objective evaluations and recommendations for improving VKUs training programs quality, making an important contribution to the success of the survey, thereby confirming that the entire process of assessing the VKUs training programs quality meets the requirements.

The official survey program to assess university-level training program’s quality of the Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology, the University of Da Nang took place successfully from August 12 to August 15, 2023. The University has always determined that quality assurance activities are a key and important task for the success of a higher education institution, improve curriculum quality in the next stages will bring more suitable points to the development trend of the labor market, meeting the requirements of society, well implementing the mission, vision and educational philosophy of “Humanity – Dedication – Liberation” of the University in the future.
