VKU Campus Tour 2024: Open opportunities – Future orientation
In parallel with the Grand Final of the Fifth Informatics Olympiad in the Central – Central Highlands, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the university of Danang organized and welcomed nearly 2,000 students from high schools in Da Nang city and the provinces of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Thua Thien Hue to participate in the VKU Campus Tour 2024 on March 30-31, 2024. This is an annual activity held at VKU to help high school students have the opportunity to experience and learn about the university environment and future career orientation.

VKU is known as the leading public university in the Central – Central Highlands region providing in-depth training and research in Information Technology, Communications and Digital Economy, operating according to international university standards. At VKU, we gather the best and strongest team of lecturers in the Central and Central Highlands with 100% of lecturers having postgraduate degrees, including nearly 70 Doctors and Associate Professors trained in countries with powerful education development. Admission scores continuously increased compared to previous years for all 14 majors/minors. Admission scores ranged from 24 to 26 points (based on academic transcripts) and from 22 to 26 points (based on the national high school exam scores). The average 2023 admission score increased by 2.0 points compared to that of 2022 and increased by 6.0 points compared to that of 2020 (The average admission score of the first year of enrollment was approximately 18 points). In particular, the number of candidates admitted directly to the school increased very quickly with more than 400 students, accounting for nearly 30% of the total 1,538 enrolled students, bringing the total student population of the school to nearly 6,000 students.
VKU lecturers shared and interacted with high school students about future career orientation
VKU always cares and creates the best conditions for students by maintaining preferential tuition rates along with other policies of enrollment, direct admission, scholarship and so on. The most important thing is that training programs and teaching methods are new, modern and regularly updated according to international standards, meeting the demand for high-quality human resources for the 4.0 industrial revolution, including: Information Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Digital Art Design, Business Administration, Artificial Intelligence, Logistics Management and Digital Supply Chain, Digital Tourism and Travel Service Management, Digital Financial Management, Information Technology Project Management. In 2024, VKU opens 04 new majors/minors, namely Communication Technology, Information Security, Marketing and Semiconductor IC Design. Particularly, with a specific training model, the school’s students not only learn according to the “project-based learning” and “learning by doing” approaches but also acquire bilingual learning in English – Vietnamese, Japanese – Vietnamese, Korean – Vietnamese. In addition, students have a variety of opportunities to learn through experience with many useful academic activities, competitions, and playgrounds to develop their knowledge, skills, ability of learning closely associated with creativity and creating products through practice right from the first year such as Robocar, Best Web Design Contest, Online Spring Code Challenge, Start-up and Innovation Contest (PISI), English Talent Competition (ETC), Information Security Contest and many other major domestic and foreign academic playgrounds, which helps VKU students practice and sharpen their necessary skills for future Engineers and Bachelors.

Participating in the tour at VKU, students had the opportunity to learn more information about the school such as training majors/minors, facilities, teaching and learning equipment, and a system of practice rooms and labs, cafeterias, accommodation (dormitory), etc. Especially, students were interested in the school’s 2024 admission information with many HOT majors/minors that match the trend, preferential tuition rates ranging from 6 to 8 million VND/semester, admission scores over the years and the school’s separate admission policy with many outstanding points.

Furthermore, the students also visited the school’s campus with spacious and modern infrastructure invested by the governments of Vietnam and Korea with an estimated investment of more than 1,000 billion VND on a large campus area of nearly 24 hectares covering a system of lecture halls, standard working zones, 60 practice rooms and laboratories including 2,200 computers with the internet connection, automatic control practice devices and embedded systems to meet students’ study and research needs. Among them, there are 19 research rooms and laboratories meeting international standards with modern equipment invested by the Korean government. During the 2022-2027 period, the Korean government continued to invest over 200 billion VND to improve research, training, and management capacity, including the construction component of the Smart Campus and Innovation Center.

With the spirit of the educational philosophy Humanity – Dedication – Liberation and practical experience activities for high school students, VKU wishes to create opportunities to help them learn more deeply about the university environment, and at the same time contribute to career orientation and consultancy for high school students. The experience program has profound humanistic meaning with free transportation and lunch as well as many meaningful programs organized previously, contributing to connecting students, parents, and the school.
