VKU and pioneer universities co-launch Vietnam-UK Education Cooperation Network and conclude the EmpowerTNE Project: Enhancing UK TNE value in Vietnam

On the afternoon of March 18, 2025, a delegation from Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap, Rector, along with Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho, Vice Rector, and representatives from the University’s departments, attended the international seminar: EmpowerTNE: UK TNE in the Internationalisation of Vietnamese Higher Education at Phenikaa University.

Overview of the seminar

The seminar served as an important forum to discuss the effective implementation of Transnational Education (TNE) cooperation models, contributing to the overall internationalisation of education in general, and the internationalisation of higher education in Vietnam in particular, with a focus on TNE cooperation with the United Kingdom (UK TNE).

The “EmpowerTNE: Enhancing UK TNE Value in Vietnam” project is part of the British Council’s Global Partnership Programme. It is led by the University of Economics and Finance (UEF) in Ho Chi Minh City, with the participation of Phenikaa University, VKU, Ho Chi Minh University of Technology (Hutech).

In his speech at the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap expressed his pleasure that VKU, together with Phenikaa University, UEF, and Hutech, was honored to be selected to participate in the development of the UK TNE (Transnational Education) system. This advanced training model meets international standards and contributes to spreading the global education system.

Over the past seven months, the project has achieved encouraging results, from enhancing faculty capabilities, introducing new technologies, to sharing experiences between UK and Vietnamese universities. The TNE system has been widely introduced to lecturers, students, and Vietnamese learners, providing opportunities for learning and international connections.

A highlight of the seminar was the initiative to establish the Vietnam-United Kingdom Transnational Education Consortium, marking an important milestone in connecting Vietnamese universities, UK universities, and educational partners from both countries. The network is expected to contribute positively to enhancing education quality, supporting the development of TNE programs, and creating research collaboration and academic exchanges between the network members, benefiting students, lecturers, and education staff.
