VKU: Admission Seminar for the Japanese–Vietnamese bilingual program: Training orientation for high-quality global human resources
On May 28th, 2025, Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang, in collaboration with NiX Education, organized an admission seminar for the Japanese–Vietnamese bilingual program. The event aimed to provide students with deeper insights into practical learning opportunities and global career orientations, especially in the Japanese market, through a Japanese-Vietnamese bilingual training model that helps students develop comprehensively both their professional expertise and foreign language skills, preparing them to join Japanese enterprises immediately after graduation.
Overview of the Seminar
Attending the program on behalf of VKU were Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of the University, Dr. Nguyen Quang Vu – Head of Training Department, and Heads of the Departments of Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Electronics; from NiX Education, there was Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia – CEO, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Phuong – Director of Training; from Japan, attending were Mr. Kikuhara Yasuhiro – Head of Industrial Human Resource Policy and Employment, Local Economic Promotion Division, Industrial Economy Bureau, Kitakyushu City; Mr. Kataoka Yuhei – Deputy Director of the Japan Cultural Exchange Center in Vietnam, a unit under the Japan Foundation. Particularly, the program also welcomed 10 CEOs from leading Japanese companies operating in the fields of technology and digital transformation including: Armonicos Joint Stock Company, Houyou, G-KIT, The 4Th-Wave Partners, PlusAd Group, GLD-LAB, Nippo Electronics, Hirokei, IT Healthcare, and IzuLink, alongside nearly 300 students majoring in Information Technology and Semiconductor Chip Design.
Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector of VKU is delivering a speech
In his remarks, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho expressed his joy and pride over the strong and sustainable development of the Japanese–Vietnamese bilingual training program in recent years. Since its launch in 2022, the program has attracted increasing student interest, as reflected in the rapidly growing enrollment numbers each year. While the first cohort had only 33 students, the most recent cohort (K23) saw this number rise to 81 students, nearly 50 of whom are enrolled in the engineering track. Beyond scaling up, the program has demonstrated quality through many outstanding achievements such as 2 students winning the international NecScat Award, a student team winning the Hackathon for IT project presentations in Japanese, and nearly 100% of the first cohort securing internships, probation, and employment in real projects at Japanese enterprises. Additionally, dozens of Japanese companies have visited, recruited, and collaborated in implementing the program, affirming the prestige and influence of this training model. This confirms that the JIT program not only helps students develop comprehensively in expertise and language but also serves as a gateway for them to step into the global arena and deeply integrate with the international labor market, especially Japan, which constantly seeks high-quality IT human resources.
In 2025, the program will continue expanding enrollment with a total quota of 160 students for cohort K24. This includes three Software Technology classes (one engineering and two bachelor’s classes) and a new class specializing in Semiconductor Chip Design — a highlight this year to meet the semiconductor labor demand in both Japan and Vietnam. All students participating in the program receive 100% tuition sponsorship for Japanese language courses from basic to specialized levels. The program is flexibly and practically designed, integrating Japanese language learning alongside the major, while applying many modern methods such as flipped classrooms, project-based learning, and case studies, helping students train not only knowledge and language but also working skills.
Sharing from Ms. Nakagaki Izumi, representative of DG Feelist Company
In the sharing session from Japanese enterprises, Ms. Nakagaki Izumi from DG Feelist emphasized the increasingly important role of international IT human resources, especially young engineers from Vietnam. She noted that due to Japan’s aging population, it is becoming more difficult to find skilled personnel with the ability to learn quickly and use Japanese well. Students from NiX program at VKU have demonstrated capabilities exceeding expectations in both technical and language skills. They are very proactive, eager to learn, complete assigned tasks well, and show professional work spirit and the ability to quickly adapt to Japanese workplace culture.
Sharing from Mr. Matsuda Nakagaki, Representative of GLD-LAB Company
Mr. Matsuda Nakagaki, representative of GLD-LAB, which collaborates in training and operating a lab at VKU, also expressed his impression of the program’s students. According to him, the interns not only perform well technically but also show clear communication skills, high responsibility, and quick adaptability to Agile working methods. Especially, some students have taken on team leader roles, directly coordinating tasks, reporting progress, and handling arising issues, which is rarely seen in students before graduation. Mr. Matsuda also emphasized that the maturity in thinking, continuous learning ability, and positive attitude are the factors that make Japanese enterprises fully confident in the capabilities of VKU students.
Sharing from Student Le Huu Anh Tu, Class 23JIT
On the student side, Le Huu Anh Tu from class 23JIT shared that before joining the program, he did not know Japanese and was worried about studying Japanese alongside IT. However, thanks to the dedicated support from lecturers, especially Japanese teachers like Ms. Hiro, he gradually got used to the new learning environment and has currently achieved the N5 level, aiming for N4. Tu said the interesting thing is that the program not only teaches language through textbooks but also offers many practical activities such as presentations, group work, and situational conversations, helping students learn Japanese naturally and effectively. Particularly, workshops and exchanges with enterprises help students clearly see their future career paths.
Sharing from Student Pham Quoc Phu, Intern at GLD-LAB
Another student, Pham Quoc Phu, currently interning at GLD-LAB as a project team leader, shared that during the internship, he not only developed programming skills but also trained in team management, coordinating with Japanese engineers through Agile management tools. Phu assessed that interning at a Japanese company is a valuable experience that helps students deeply understand working styles, organizational culture, and prepare practical readiness for work after graduation. Thanks to this, Phu has reached a Japanese proficiency equivalent to JLPT N3 and is continuing to improve toward the goal of becoming a core engineer in international projects.
The seminar concluded in an atmosphere of connection and strong inspiration, not only for students but also for Japanese enterprises seeking high-quality human resources in Vietnam. The outstanding results from the Japanese–Vietnamese bilingual training program clearly demonstrate VKU’s pioneering role, strategic vision, and effective implementation capacity in training high-quality internationally integrated human resources, alongside the deep collaboration and accompaniment of NiX Education, increasingly affirming its position as a center connecting high-quality digital human resources in Central – Central Highlands and the whole country. The Japanese–Vietnamese bilingual program is truly a gateway to the future for technology-passionate students who wish to reach out to the world. It is not only a place to learn but also an environment to experience, grow, and breakthrough, where global engineers with Vietnamese bravery and intellect take flight.
