VKU accompanies the young generation of Quang Tri: Igniting the dream of Central Vietnam, connecting knowledge – guiding the future at the 2025 University Admissions Counseling Program

Nearly 3,000 students and teachers from 19 high schools across Quang Tri Province participated in the 2025 University Admissions Counseling and Career Orientation Program, organized and hosted by the Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU), the University of Danang. The program was professionally and meticulously organized, providing accurate and comprehensive information about university admissions in general at the University of Danang and specifically at VKU.

On April 12–13, 2024, the 2025 Admissions Counseling Program was held at Dong Ha High School and Hai Lang High School in Quang Tri. The event was hosted by VKU, the University of Danang, in collaboration with the Quang Tri Department of Education and Training and the two high schools (Dong Ha High School and Hai Lang High School). The purpose of the program was to offer guidance, introduce academic disciplines, and orient students from high schools across Quang Tri province.

Participants included Dr. Le Thi Huong – Director of Quang Tri Department of Education and Training, MA. Le Van Tinh – Head of Secondary Education and in charge of Continuing Education and Vocational Training; from VKU: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Chairman of the University Council, Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – Vice Rector. Also present were representatives from the Boards of Management of 19 high schools including Dong Ha High School, Le Quy Don Gifted High School, Gio Linh Secondary & High School, Che Lan Vien Secondary & High School, Cam Lo Secondary & High School, Con Tien Secondary & High School, Cua Viet Secondary & High School, Hai Lang High School, Bui Duc Tai High School, Tran Thi Tam High School, Quang Tri Town High School, Nguyen Hue High School, Vinh Dinh High School, Chu Van An High School, Ethnic Minority Principal Boarding School, Nguyen Huu Than High School, Trieu Phong High School, Phong Dien High School, and Nguyen Dinh Chieu High School (Hue); nearly 200 teachers and 3,000 students and parents attended.

In his opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap sincerely thanked the leadership of the Quang Tri Department of Education and Training, school principals, and nearly 3,000 students and teachers for participating in such a meaningful and hopeful program. The Rector shared: This is not simply an admissions counseling event, but an opportunity to share a common dream – the dream of Central Vietnam. That dream is to enable young people in this resilient, tradition-rich land to study in a modern, high-quality, globally integrated environment right at home, to work, contribute, and build careers in Central Vietnam instead of having to migrate far from their families to big cities.

In her speech, Dr. Le Thi HuongDirector of the Quang Tri Department of Education and Training expressed her deep appreciation to VKU for their enthusiasm, activeness, and professionalism in organizing this year’s 2025 Admissions Counseling and Career Orientation Program at Dong Ha and Hai Lang High Schools. She emphasized that the event was extremely practical and meaningful, especially in the context where career choices and future orientation are becoming increasingly important for the younger generation. With participation from nearly 3,000 students and teachers from 19 high schools, the program not only provided updated and accurate admissions information but also inspired students and ignited their dreams and motivation to strive. Through thoughtful advice from VKU’s experts and lecturers, students gained a clearer understanding of their own abilities, the demands of society, and emerging career trends in the digital age. Dr. Huong expressed confidence that this program will further strengthen the partnership between Quang Tri’s education sector and VKU, opening more opportunities for career guidance and the development of high-quality human resources for the homeland and the nation.

Representatives from local co-organizing units,  MA. Ta Thi Thu Hien – Principal of Dong Ha High School and Mr. Phan Hong Khanh – Principal of Hai Lang High School expressed sincere gratitude to VKU for organizing such a practical, high-quality, and meaningful admissions counseling event for Quang Tri students. They appreciated VKU’s commitment and responsibility in providing students with official information and helping them explore and define clear directions in choosing appropriate fields and universities aligned with their capabilities and passions. This was a valuable opportunity to build motivation and a solid foundation for students to prepare confidently for the future.

Dr. Huynh Ngoc Tho – VKU Vice Rector, introduced general information and the 2025 admission plan

In 2025, VKU plans to enroll 1,500 students in three main fields: Computer Science and Information Technology (900 slots); Business and Management (480 slots); Journalism and Communication (120 slots) through five admission methods: direct admission per the Ministry of Education’s regulations; high school graduation exam results; academic record-based admission (transcript evaluation); results from the HCMC National University’s competency assessment test; and direct admission via VKU’s own enrollment project. VKU also introduces four new majors: Fintech, Game Technology, Data Analytics, and Automotive Software Engineering, in addition to 15 existing majors such as: Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Media Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Information Security, Semiconductor Design, Digital Art Design, Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics and Digital Supply Chain Management, Digital Tourism and Travel Management, and IT Project Management. These are all highly sought-after fields in the domestic and global labor market.

VKU continues to maintain an affordable tuition fee policy, estimated at 8–9 million VND per semester, and offers various scholarship programs for direct admission and financial support of 50%–100% tuition for one semester or even the entire course at all admission methods in order to accompany and support outstanding students.

Additionally, VKU offers generous scholarships: 50 million VND for the valedictorian, 25–40 million VND for the salutatorians, 20 million VND for the Top 10, and 2 million VND for students with high admission scores or those in difficult circumstances – to encourage and support academic excellence.

During the event, VKU awarded 18 support scholarships (worth 5 million VND each) and 2 sponsorships to Dong Ha and Hai Lang High Schools. The total amount of support reached 100 million VND, covering 19 high schools: Dong Ha High School, Le Quy Don Gifted High School, Gio Linh Secondary & High School, Che Lan Vien Secondary & High School, Cam Lo Secondary & High School, Con Tien Secondary & High School, Cua Viet Secondary & High School, Hai Lang High School, Bui Duc Tai High School, Tran Thi Tam High School, Quang Tri Town High School, Nguyen Hue High School, Vinh Dinh High School, Chu Van An High School, Ethnic Minority Principal Boarding School, Nguyen Huu Than High School, Trieu Phong High School, Phong Dien High School, and Nguyen Dinh Chieu High School (Hue).

Exciting robocar friendly competition experience

Right after the admissions counseling session, the program continued to bring a vibrant and exciting atmosphere with a series of engaging hands-on activities for students. This was an opportunity not only for them to explore different career paths but also to directly experience a creative, multicultural learning environment infused with modern technology as implemented at VKU. Students took part in creative drawing on Wacom tablets, getting a real feel for digital design just like a true technology major student. They also had the chance to wear traditional Korean Hanbok costumes, creating a lively cultural exchange space. A particular highlight of the event was the thrilling Robocar friendly match between teams from different high schools – a competition where students showcased their control skills, teamwork, and agility in a smart technology simulation environment. These experiential activities not only sparked excitement but also offered students a clear view of VKU’s practical, real-world learning approach – where technology, creativity, and global integration are always at the core of training. It was truly a valuable playground that inspired and empowered students to confidently embark on their journey to acquire knowledge and pursue future careers.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Nhat Minh – Deputy Head of the Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation presented the workshop on “Applying AI in Designing Teaching Materials”

Alongside the 2025 admissions counseling and career orientation program, nearly 200 teachers from high schools across Quang Tri province participated in a special training session on the topic “Applying AI in Designing Teaching Materials,” delivered directly by Dr. Nguyen Huu Nhat Minh – Deputy Head of the Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation. The workshop aimed to provide high school teachers with the opportunity to update themselves on the latest technologies, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI) – a tool that is dramatically transforming the field of education. Through the vivid, practical, and easy-to-apply presentation by the VKU lecturer, teachers were introduced to ways of using AI to assist in designing lessons and learning materials, thereby enhancing teaching effectiveness and adopting modern educational approaches. The training session received enthusiastic support from the teachers, contributing to the spread of a spirit of innovation in education, while also clearly demonstrating VKU’s pioneering role in knowledge and technology transfer and its commitment to accompanying general education in the digital era.
