Vibrant VKU flag colors shine at the 7th Sports Festival for staff and employees of the University of Danang – 2025
On the morning of May 10, 2025, in a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere, the Opening Ceremony of the 7th Sports Festival for Staff and Employees of the University of Danang officially took place at the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU). As the host institution, VKU not only carried out the logistics tasks thoroughly and professionally but also made a strong impression on delegates, athletes, and supporters with its vibrant, youthful, distinctive, and dynamic image.
An overview of the Sports Festival Opening Ceremony
This year’s Sports Festival also holds significant political and social meaning, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025), and moving towards the Party Congress at all levels, especially the 7th Party Congress of the University of Danang for the 2025–2030 term. In that spirit, VKU’s enthusiastic participation and spirited competition further emphasized solidarity, exchange, and joint development toward a tradition-rich, progressively innovating the University of Danang.
Attending the 7th Sports Festival for Staff and Employees of the University of Danang – 2025 were: Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President of the University of Danang, Head of the Organizing Committee; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Phuc – President of the University of Danang Trade Union, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of VKU; representatives of Danang University’s departments and member universities; representatives of sponsor organizations; along with nearly 500 athletes, coaches, and a large number of supporters.
The VKU Sports Delegation’s spirit during the opening ceremony
To the uplifting rhythm of the sports festival, the VKU Sports Delegation, led by Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector, along with over 100 members including athletes, coaches, and medical staff, made a remarkable impression right from the opening ceremony. With well-prepared organization, striking uniforms, strong formations, and a spirit of pride, they showcased the dynamic and modern image of a young university steadily asserting its position in Vietnam’s higher education landscape.
With its largest participation ever, VKU brings to the Festival over 205 athlete entries across 8 sports with 15 competition categories: Running (competitive and non-competitive running), Men’s Football, Men’s Volleyball, Women’s Soft Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Pickleball, and Chinese Chess. These impressive figures reflect not only strategic investment but also the depth of VKU’s physical activity movement among its staff – where each individual understands the importance of physical training alongside intellectual development.
More than just a sports event, this festival is a platform to train the spirit, express the will, the aspiration to contribute, and the determination to win among those working in education. At VKU, sports are not merely a movement but a core part of a sustainable development culture, tightly linked with the goal of comprehensive education — where the spirit of “health for creativity, health for service” is powerfully awakened and spread.
The opening running race of the Sports Festival
Kicking off the Sports Festival was the energetic Running Race with 425 athletes participating. Notably, VKU’s athlete Nguyen Thi Thuy Giang won a Consolation Prize in the Women’s 2000m category.
The athletes’ journey will continue over the coming weeks (from May 10 to June 15, 2025), but from the very first steps of the Opening Ceremony, VKU has already demonstrated its confidence, readiness, and breakthrough ambition. Each stride, each match, and every drop of sweat shed is not only for medals but for a greater value: spreading the beautiful image of a youthful, modern public university with strong grassroots movements and far-reaching aspirations.
VKU – Strong in body and mind, ready to break through for the comprehensive, humane, and sustainable development of the University of Danang community.
